When the substrate (7) is seen in a plan view, the thermal head is composed of a first region (R1) defined by extending a driving-IC (11) disposed area in a sub scanning direction, and second regions (R2) which are regions other than the first region (R1). In at least one of the second regions (R2) which lies closer to the heat generating portion (9) than the driving-IC (11) disposed area is provided a projection portion (2) which makes contact with a recording medium (P) under conveyance.

    摘要: An abrasion-resistant layer (50) of which a printing surface which is brought into contact with a thermal recording medium is formed on a temporary substrate (70) for manufacturing which has a trench having a semi-circular cross section in its surface. A heating layer (51), conductive layers (52a and 52b) constituting electrodes connected to the heating layer, protection layer (54a) and a regenerating layer (58) are built up on the surface of the abrasion-resistant layer to form a printing part. Further, a driving (IC55) which is connected to the conductive layers and controls a heating power supplied to the printing part and wiring parts (53) with which the driving (IC55) is connected to an external circuit are formed. The printing part and a radiation member (59) are fixed to each other with resin (62) and a common electrode (84) connected to the conductive layer (52a), a wiring (56) and a radiation member are fixed to each other with double-sided adhesive tapes (82 and 83). After the whole surface except the substrate (70) is covered with etching resist (85), the substrate is removed by etching to expose the printing surface protruding outward.

    摘要: The printing cost is minimized by reducing the number of parts of a thermal print head used for printers, for such as a facsimile, and the quality of a printed product is improved by preventing the warpage of the thermal print head. A base plate mounting surface of a heat radiation plate (2) is provided with a longitudinally extending mounting surface dividing groove (5). A head base plate (3) having a heating resistor (6) for printing and a circuit board (4) having a connector (10) for external connection are fixed on the base plate mounting surface. The two plates (3, 4) are arranged so as to be opposed to each other with the mounting surface dividing groove positioned therebetween. Terminal electrodes (8, 11) provided on groove-side edge portions of the head base plate and circuit board are connected together by a terminal lead (9). An edge portion of at least one of the head base plate and circuit board projects to a position above the mounting surface dividing groove and forms a projecting edge portion, which is held from the upper and lower sides thereof by one end portion (9a, 9b) of the terminal lead.

    摘要: A thermal head includes a metal substrate; an insulating layer (3) formed on the surface of the metal substrate (1); a plurality of heating elements (14,24) disposed on the surface of the insulating layer (3), the heating elements (14,24) being arranged with a predetermined pitch along a plurality of lines in a main scanning direction, the plurality of lines being spaced from each other in a paper feeding direction perpendicular to the main scanning direction; and a heat radiating element (2) projecting from the surface of the metal substrate (1) to the side where the insulating layer is disposed. In this structure, although most of heat generated by the respective heating elements is transferred to an ink ribbon or print paper, residual partial heat is absorbed by heat radiating means via the insulating layer and radiated into the atmosphere. This suppresses thermal interference among the heating elements. The invention also discloses a thermal head controller for controlling a thermal head for use in a printer.
