The aim of the invention is to provide advantageous construction conditions. To this end, the ball socket (8) consists of a cast body (9) that consists of a ferrous product and is provided with a casting skin at least on the inner side of the socket (16).

According to the invention, the best pivoting properties may be achieved with an economical construction, whereby a ball joint (4) is used as fifth wheel coupling, with the joint ball (5) and corresponding retaining clamp (6) on one side and the ball socket (7) which, in the working position, encloses the joint ball (5) from above and shaped spigot piece (8) on the other side. Said joint ball (5) and retaining clamp (6) replace the coupling device and the ball socket (7) and the spigot piece (8) replaces the kingpin.
