A substrate for artificial leathers which is composed of a nonwoven fabric made of fiber bundles of microfine fibers having an average single fiber fineness of 0.5 dtex or less and an elastic polymer impregnated into the nonwoven fabric. The substrate for artificial leathers satisfies the following requirements 1 and 2: (1) the number of fiber bundles which are oriented to a thickness direction of the nonwoven fabric is 75 to 300 per 1 cm of width which is perpendicular to the thickness direction, when measured on a cross section parallel to the thickness direction; and (2) the number of cross sections of the fiber bundles which are oriented to the thickness direction is 30 to 800 per 1 mm 2 , when measured on a cross section perpendicular to the thickness direction. The substrate for artificial leathers is suitable for the production of a grain-finished artificial leather which combines a non-repulsive softness and firm hand resembling natural sheep leathers and has fine buckling wrinkles, and a suede-finished or nubuck artificial leather having a surface touch with fine texture and a grace writing effect each being hitherto not obtained.

A finishing composition is proposed for deposition by continuous flow inkjet technique onto a textile substrate. The composition comprises a dispersion or emulsion of a functional finishing agent in a vehicle and the jetted composition has a conductivity of greater than 500 μS/cm. The size of particles in the dispersion or emulsion of the finishing composition is less than about 5 microns. By ensuring sufficient fineness of the particles, effective and reliable droplet deposition may proceed without clogging of the nozzles.

The invention relates to an elastic laminate. The laminate is made from a co-extruded elastic film, comprising an elastomeric support layer, at least one cover layer and at least one textile outer layer made from a non-woven. The cover layer has a low layer thickness by comparison with the support layer. The outer layer is laminated onto the cover layer. According to the invention, the cover layer is made from an elastomeric material, with essentially the same expansion properties as the material of the support layer and contains additives for modification of the surface properties.

A method of producing a stretch material includes the steps of extruding a thermoplastic film (20); passing the extruded film through a nip of two rolls (30, 35) having first and second roll surfaces, where the first roll surface includes a raised closed shape pattern and the second roll surface is a flat anvil surface; forming a pattern in the film with the rolls, while chilling the film, such that there are thicker and thinner areas in the film, corresponding to the pattern on the first roll surface; and passing the patterned film under tension, by a heated air stream (45), whereby the polymer in the thinner patterned areas is removed, thereby creating a netting material. A bidirectional stretch laminate is produced by bonding a necked nonwoven material (75) to the netting material while the netting material is being stretched (under tension).

The invention relates to a method of treating a fabric involving metal peroxide impregnation. The invention is characterised in that a fabric, e.g. pre-bleached and/or desized hydrophilic fabric having a weft (or inversely a warp) comprising natural or synthetic cellulosic fibres, is subjected to the following: impregnation (I) in a metal peroxide leaving the weft (or inversely the warp) free for a period necessary for the swelling of the fibre forming the weft (or inversely the warp) of the fabric and for the modification of the cellulose; at least one relaxation operation without weft (or inversely warp) tension with the passage of air, during which the weft (or inversely the warp) swells and takes the form of a spring, following shrinkage; at least one rinsing operation; at least one washing operation; and at least one squeezing operation. The invention also relates to the elastic fabrics thus obtained and to the machines used to implement said method.
