A neck seal for use in a protective hood includes an inner section including a passage for donning. The inner section is fabricated from an elastomeric material to form a seal around a neck of a user. The neck seal also includes an outer section adhered to the inner section. The outer section is fabricated from a material heat sealable to a hood covering material. In one embodiment, the elastomeric material of the inner section is a latex material. The outer section can, for example, be fabricated from a thermoplastic material. In one embodiment the thermoplastic material is a polyurethane such as a polyester-based polyurethane.

The current application is directed to a system and method for fusing two adjacent vertebrae. In one embodiment, the vertebrae are fused by inserting a self-broaching interbody apparatus (1) into a disc space without the need for separately drilling and broaching. The self-broaching interbody apparatus may include cutting flutes (24) or other broaching means capable of cutting through the cartilaginous endplates of the vertebrae. In another embodiment, an interbody apparatus (100) with an expanding means (118) capable of distracting the disc space between the adjacent vertebrae is inserted into the disc space. Another embodiment includes a sleeve (800) that fits around an interbody apparatus that has at least one opening in its outer surface leading to a cavity filled with bone and/or ortho-biological materials.

Humidifying apparatus includes a body comprising a chamber into which water is supplied by a water tank. An air flow is generated over water stored in the chamber, and a humidifying system humidifies the air flow with water from the chamber. Water in the chamber is irradiated by an ultraviolet radiation emitting lamp. The lamp forms part of a cartridge removably locatable within the body so that the lamp is received within an ultraviolet radiation transparent tube of the chamber. The body includes a plurality of supports for supporting the cartridge therebetween. Each support has a curved track for guiding movement of the cartridge towards the tube, the tracks being shaped to orient the cartridge for insertion of the lamp into the tube as the cartridge moves along the tracks towards the tube.

The fan assembly also comprises a nozzle removably mounted on the body for receiving the air flow from the body and for emitting the air flow, and a filter surrounding at least a portion of the body upstream from the air inlet. The filter being held captive on the fan assembly between the nozzle and a portion of the body while remaining free to move relative to the body and the nozzle. The filter is removable from the fan assembly only after removal of the nozzle from the body.
