摘要: A method and apparatus for monitoring optic function is provided. The apparatus and method relies on two principle modes of measuring the function of the optic nerve, namely, monitoring VEPs for neural function, and monitoring at least one additional parameter of optic function such as intraocular pressure, blood flow or location of the eye to provide a multi-variable optic function monitor. The method and apparatus is proposed for the use to diagnose and potentially prevent the incidence of POVL and anaesthesia awareness in patients during medical procedures.

摘要: The current application is directed to a system and method for fusing two adjacent vertebrae. In one embodiment, the vertebrae are fused by inserting a self-broaching interbody apparatus (1) into a disc space without the need for separately drilling and broaching. The self-broaching interbody apparatus may include cutting flutes (24) or other broaching means capable of cutting through the cartilaginous endplates of the vertebrae. In another embodiment, an interbody apparatus (100) with an expanding means (118) capable of distracting the disc space between the adjacent vertebrae is inserted into the disc space. Another embodiment includes a sleeve (800) that fits around an interbody apparatus that has at least one opening in its outer surface leading to a cavity filled with bone and/or ortho-biological materials.

摘要: The current application is directed to a system and method for fusing two adjacent vertebrae. In one embodiment, the vertebrae are fused by inserting a self-broaching interbody apparatus (1) into a disc space without the need for separately drilling and broaching. 摘要: A method and apparatus for aligning and fixing vertebral bodies is provided. The vertebral alignment/fixation assembly (10) of the current invention comprises a hemispherical headed pedicle screw (12) disposed within a slotted coupling unit (14) designed to allow angular adjustment of the pedicle screw (12) up to 90 degrees and which may be securely locked into position via a single threaded locking nut (16) once a standard alignment rod (60) has been inserted into the slotted coupling unit (14). The vertebral alignment/fixation assembly (10) enabling the angular adjustment of the fixation system hardware after final placement and insertion of the pedicle screw (12) into the vertebral body. A system and method for aligning and fixing vertebral bodies using the vertebral alignment/fixation assembly of the invention is also provide.
