Abstract:
A method for controlling an idle mode in a mobile station comprises transmitting an idle mode request message to a serving base station to enter the idle mode. The method also comprises determining whether a skip threshold parameter has been exceeded, the skip threshold parameter associated with a number of paging intervals to pass before receiving a paging message with a mobile station identifier of the mobile station. The method also comprises transmitting a location update request to a base station if the skip threshold parameter has been exceeded, the location update request configured toupdate the location of the mobile terminal with respect to the base station.
Abstract:
A apparatus and method for efficiently performing an HARQ procedure in a wireless communication system are disclosed. According to the method for performing an HARQ procedure, waste of unnecessary resources caused by continuous failure in packet transmission can be avoided, wherein the failure occurs due to the error of the uplink basic assignment A-MAP IE for retransmission.
Abstract:
A method for performing effective handover (HO) in a broadband wireless access system is disclosed. The method for controlling a mobile station (MS) to perform handover in a broadband wireless access system includes receiving a first message including at least one of first index information and second index information from a serving base station (SBS), wherein the first index information indicates a subframe to which an additional ranging opportunity for the mobile station (MS) is allocated from a target base station (TBS) and the second index information indicates a frame to which the additional ranging opportunity is allocated, and transmitting a ranging code to the target base station (TBS) through the additional ranging opportunity indicated by the first index information and the second index information.
Abstract:
An Apparatus and methods for communicating in a wireless access system using a medium access control protocol data unit (MAC PDU) is disclosed. The method comprises steps of receiving, by a mobile station (MS) from a base station (BS), a dynamic service addition request (AAI_DSA-REQ) message requesting to create a service flow, wherein the AAI_DSA-REQ message comprises a first MAC header type parameter indicating a type of a MAC header included in the MAC PDU of the service flow and a flow identifier (FID) identifying a connection associated with the service flow; transmitting, by the MS to the BS, a dynamic service addition response (AAI_DSA-RSP) message in response to the AAI_DSA-REQ message, wherein the AAI_DSA-RSP message comprises a second MAC header type parameter indicating the type of a MAC header included in the MAC PDU of the service flow; and communicating with the BS using the MAC PDU comprising the MAC header indicated by the second MAC header type parameter; wherein the MAC header type parameter indicates one of a generic MAC header (GMH) for general data packet transmission and a short-packet MAC header (SPMH) for small data packet transmission and a non-ARQ connection.
Abstract:
This document is related to a method for acquiring information for media independent handover. More specifically the method comprises: submitting a media independent handover (MIH) query to a base station (BS) by sending a first request message, and receiving a response to the MIH query. Because the first request message is used for authorization, preferably the PKM message, the MS can acquire information for handover between heterogeneous networks before the MS finishes the network entry.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a broadband wireless access system, and more particularly, to a method for a mobile station to save power for prescribed duration without performing a paging procedure and apparatus therefor. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a method of a DCR (deregistration with content retention) mode operation of a mobile station in a broadband wireless access system includes transmitting a first message including a first code indicating an entry request at the DCR mode to a base station, receiving a second message including a second code indicating whether to allow the entry request from the base station, and if the second code is set to a value indicating an allowance of the entry request, operating in the DCR mode while a preset timer is valid.
Abstract:
A method for updating a neighbor list at a femto Base Station (BS) is disclosed. The method includes broadcasting a first broadcast message including information about an unavailable time interval during which scheduling is not performed for Mobile Stations (MSs), scanning at least one neighbor BS during the unavailable time interval, and updating the neighbor list according to a result of the scanning.
