A first pump element control circuit 56 controls a voltage applied to a first pump element 3 so as to control the level of a partial pressure of oxygen contained in a first processing chamber 9 such that an output voltage of an oxygen concentration detection element becomes substantially constant. A first pump current is detected through use of a current detection resistor 101 and is then output via an A/D converter circuit 65. A second pump element control circuit 57 applies a constant voltage to a second pump element 5 in such a direction as to pump out oxygen from a second processing chamber 10. A second pump current is detected through use of a current detection resistor 107 and is then output via an A/D converter circuit 65. A detection signal indicative of the first pump current is used for determination of the oxygen concentration of a measurement gas. The detection signal indicative of the first pump current and a detection signal indicative of the second pump current are used for determination of the nitrogen oxides concentration of the measurement gas.

    摘要: An NO x sensor capable of accurately determining the concentration of NO x contained in a gas to be analyzed (measurement gas) using a simple circuit. The NO x sensor includes a first measurement space (20) and a second measurement space (26). The first measurement space (20) communicates with the measurement gas via a first diffusion controlling layer (4d), and the second measurement space (26) communicates with the first measurement space via a second diffusion controlling layer (6d). A constant voltage is applied to the second pumping cell (8) so as to decompose the NO x component of the measurement gas contained in the second measurement space (26), and to pump out the resulting oxygen from the second measurement space (26). Accordingly, the concentration of NO x contained in the measurement gas can be obtained from second pumping current I p2 . The electrode of the Vs cell located on the side of the first measurement space (20) is formed around the periphery of or on a portion of the diffusion controlling layer (6d) of the Vs cell. As a result, the amount of oxygen flowing from the first measurement space (20) into the second measurement space (26) can be accurately determined by means of the Vs cell. Also, the NO x concentration can be accurately determined without the need for compensation.

In such an industrial engine, a pulser coil outputs an alternating current signal in response to movement of a magnet which rotates together with an output shaft of the industrial engine. To the pulser coil, there are connected a detecting circuit for generating a timing signal corresponding to an angle of rotation of the output shaft in response to the signal from the pulser coil, a microcomputer for determining an engine speed in accordance with the timing signal and then determining an ignition timing in accordance with the determined engine speed, and a signal generating circuit for generating a signal for controlling the timing at which a spark plug is driven by an ignition drive unit. By advancing and retarding the ignition timing, the output of the engine can be controlled with responsiveness such that the stable operation of the engine can be obtained even when the air/fuel mixture is made leaner to such an extent that will inevitably cause hunting when the engine is operated under only a throttle valve opening and closing control by a governor.
