    摘要: A catheter is provided that is capable of achieving an improvement in operability when the catheter is introduced into a human body. A guide wire port 21 is formed in a midway position, in an axial line direction, of a peripheral wall portion 23 of an outer shaft 15 of a balloon catheter 10. A core wire 30, which extends across the guide wire port 21 in the axial line direction is provided in an outer tube hole 15a of the outer shaft 15. The core wire 30 is provided with a leading end side area 31, which is further to a leading end side than the guide wire port 21, and a tapered area 32, which is provided on a base end side of the leading end side area 31. The tapered area 32 is provided continuously from the base end side of the leading end side area 31 and has a first tapered area 34, which includes a same position as the guide wire port 21 in the axial line direction, and a second tapered area 35, which is provided continuously from a base end side of the first tapered area 34. A rate of increase of a transverse cross-sectional area from the leading end side toward the base end side is larger in the first tapered area 34 than in the second tapered area 35.

    摘要: A multi-lumen catheter including an elliptical cross-sectional profile configuration that enhances fluid flow rate while minimizing the average diameter of the catheter body is disclosed. In one embodiment the catheter includes an elongate catheter tube defining a plurality of lumens. At least a portion of the longitudinal length of the catheter tube may define an elliptical cross section, in turn defined by a major axis and a minor axis. In one embodiment, a ratio of the major axis to the minor axis of the elliptical cross section is between about 1.3 and about 1.4. The catheter body can define two, three, or more lumens. In one embodiment, a dual-lumen catheter tube includes an aspect ratio of about 1.1:1, and each lumen thereof includes an inner surface defined by a plurality of radii and an hourglass-shaped septum.

The catheter may have an inflation lumen reinforced with a metal support, such as a coil, to prevent collapse and deflation of the inflation lumen, while leaving a minimal impact on the size of the catheter. The catheter may be manufactured with a temperature sensing strip permanently integrated into the catheter during the manufacturing process. The temperature sensing strip is able to wirelessly send information regarding a patient's temperature to an external display, where it may be available for viewing by a care provider. Additionally, the drainage lumen of the catheter is preferably coated with a hydrophobic coating or treatment, and/or formed to include a patterned microstructure surface design, such as superhydrophobic patterned surface.

    摘要: A tubular body includes an elongated inner layer that demarcates a main lumen; a wire reinforcing layer that is formed by winding a reinforcing wire around the inner layer; a resinous elongated sub-tube that is arranged so as to extend along a longitudinal direction of the main lumen outside the wire reinforcing layer and demarcates a sub-lumen having a smaller diameter than the main lumen; a resinous outer layer that sheaths the wire reinforcing layer and the sub-tube; and a retaining wire. An operating wire is movably inserted through the sub-lumen, and has a tip connected to a distal portion of the tubular body. An operating part is operated to pull the operating wire to bend the distal portion of the tubular body. The retaining wire is sheathed by the outer layer, and winds together the sub-tube and the wire reinforcing layer. In a medical instrument (catheter), the retaining wire is in contact with a peripheral surface of the sub-tube on both an external diameter side and an outer surface of the wire reinforcing layer.
