A first stage pressure regulator is provided. The regulator includes a valve body having an inlet and an outlet coupled by a pressure chamber. A pressure compensation chamber fluidly communicates with the surrounding water. A valve member is slidably carried by the valve body between an open state in which fluid is permitted to flow between the inlet and outlet and a closed state in which fluid is prevented from flowing between the inlet and outlet. The valve member has an expansion head that is operably acted upon by the surrounding water within the pressure compensation chamber to bias the valve member toward the open state. The regulator includes an annular insulating bushing within the compensation chamber that covers a portion of the valve body defining a portion of the pressure compensation chamber to insulate the valve body from the water within the pressure compensation chamber.

A dive computer system that utilizes a direct skin temperature measurement is provided. The dive computer system includes a measurement device that includes a temperature sensor and is attached to a strap. The strap is placed around a diver's chest and configured to measure the diver's skin temperature. The skin temperature is wirelessly transmitted to a dive computer that utilizes a dive algorithm to determine compartment inert gas saturation and desaturation. The dive algorithm determines an updated skin perfusion factor that is in turn utilized to determine an updated half time for the skin compartment for inert gas desaturation and a pressure tolerance for the skin compartment for inert gas saturation.

A diving computer (10) is provided. The diving computer (10) includes a computer (20) connected to a dot matrix screen (18) to display information concerning a dive. The computer has an interface (14) to an external personal computer (11) for reprogrammably configuring the information displayed on the screen (18). The user may customize the information on one or more views of the screen (18) in several ways. The user may select the desired information to be displayed, and may customize the size and placement of the information on one or more views. The diving computer (10) also has a number of pre-programmed displays that may be selected, each of which present different layouts and organizations of diving related information.
