Automatic installation of a circlip is facilitated even if the axial length (inner ring width) of a projection of an inner ring is reduced. Two-step chamfer (20) having different chamfer angles is provided at an end on the shaft insertion side of the shaft hole (12). The two-step chamfer (20) has a first chamfer section (21) positioned on the shaft hole opening side and also has a second chamfer section (22) formed on the opposite side of the opening so as to continue to the first chamfer section (21). The chamfer angle α of the first chamfer section (21) is set greater than the chamfer angle β of the second chamfer section (22).

A wheel disconnect system is provided including a rear drive module (46) and a constant velocity joint housing (48). The rear drive module includes a housing (50), at least one actuator (52), and at least one dog clutch (66). The dog clutch includes a first portion (68) configured to move when the actuator is moved and a second portion (70) configured for engagement with the first portion. The constant velocity joint housing is formed integrally with the second portion of the dog clutch. A wheel (18,20) may be disconnected from the rear drive module unless engagement of the first and second portions of the dog clutch allows torque to be transferred to the wheel. In one embodiment, a hydraulically activated piston (54) may be used to activate the first portion of the dog clutch. In another embodiment, a ball ramp may be used to activate the first portion of the dog clutch. A vehicle driveline including a wheel disconnect system is also provided.

In the joint, the track grooves of an outer ring (10) and an inner ring (20) are tapered by an angle not exceeding 12°. The ratio (f/PCR) of the cage (40) offset amount f to PCR is greater than 0 and smaller than or equal to 0.12. The ratio (Do/d) of the cage (40) outer diameter (Do) to the ball (30) diameter (d), the ratio (t/d) of the cage wall thickness (t) to the ball (30) diameter (d), and the ratio (w/d) of the cage width (w) to the ball diameter (d) are such that 3.9 ≤ Do/d ≤ 4.1, 0.31 ≤ t/d ≤ 0.34, and 1.8 ≤ w/d ≤ 2.0, respectively. The end of the spherical outer surface (42) of the cage (40) adjacent to the open end is axially extended, and the end of the spherical inner surface (44) of the cage adjacent to the open end is tapered so that the tapered surface has an increasing diameter toward the end of the spherical outer surface (42) adjacent to the open end.
