摘要:
Method for processing waste with a calorific value with any degree of humidity whatsoever by means of a thermal treatment, whereby the waste is put in a flow of a hot, heat-resistant, heat-exchanging material which is warmer than 100 °C, whereby the material cools off due to heat exchange, the waste dries and the non-evaporated waste components are heated, whereby the cooled, heat-exchanging material is subsequently separated from the dried components, at least a part of the separated dried waste components is joined together with at least a part of the separated heat-exchanging material and whereby these waste components are subsequently subjected to pyrolysis, whereby the heat-exchanging material is heated before being used to dry the waste, characterized in that a granulated material is used as heat-exchanging material, in that the dried waste components which are separated from the granulated material are mixed with only a part of the separated, cooled granulated material and this mixture is subjected to the pyrolysis and in that the rest of the separated, cooled granulated material is mixed directly with granulated material heated by the pyrolysis and in that the thus obtained mixture is used to dry the fresh waste.

A fluidized bed combustion system (10) particularly suited for use to effect the incineration, i.e., combustion therewith of wood waste/sludge mixtures that have high moisture and ash content which makes them difficult to burn. The fluidized bed combustion system (10) includes a fluidized bed combustor (12) embodying a fluidized bed (24) composed of bed solids. Air is injected into the fluidized bed (24) through an air distributor (28) to establish a first controlled fluidizing velocity zone and a second controlled fluidizing velocity zone therewithin. Material (42b) is introduced into the fluidized bed combustor (12) above the second controlled fluidizing velocity zone. Bed solids are projected from the first controlled fludizing velocity zone to the second controlled fluidizing velocity zone whereupon the bed solids rain down upon the material (42b) and effect a covering thereof. The material (42b) is then dried and thereafter combusted. Inerts/tramp materials/clinkers as well as large diameter solids entrained with the material (42b) are segregated therefrom and then are removed (64) from the fluidized bed combustor (12).

The method comprises injecting into a combustion zone (2) operating under fuel rich conditions and containing furnace gases including fuel at least one jet (20) of oxidant at a high velocity sufficient to entrain furnace gases including fuel into the jet, said initial high velocity being too high for combustion to take place; increasing the fuel to oxygen ratio within the jet (20) to exceed the stoichiometric ratio while causing intense mixing of the fuel and oxidant in the combustion zone (2) due to the high velocity jet; and combusting fuel and oxidant in the combustion zone while maintaining the level of nitrogen oxides generation low because of the high fuel to oxygen ratio and while generating products of incomplete combustion because of the high fuel to oxygen ratio but limiting the amount of soot produced because of the intense mixing of fuel and oxidant.

This invention relates to an improved process for the coincineration of municipal solid waste and municipal sewage sludge by dewatering the sludge, breaking it up into sufficiently small particles and employing oxygen enrichment of the combustion process. This is accomplished without undesired excursions of flue gas flow rate and temperature.
