    摘要: An advertisement with high informing effect is provided to a user by using an e-mail as an advertisement medium. Stored in a mail server (40) are advertisement information received from various advertisers and distribution conditions such as the distribution date and time preset by the advertisers with respect to the advertisement information and the attributes (residence, age, gender, etc.) of the users to whom advertisements are distributed. The mail server (40) sends an e-mail to a recipient user (20) of the server (40) after selecting and adding advertisement information meeting the preset distribution conditions such as the current date and time and the attributes of the recipient user (20) to the user definition header of the e-mail. A computer of the user (20) having a dedicated mail software application (21) that extracts the advertisement information from the user definition header of the received e-mail and displays the advertisement on a progress display screen where the e-mail is displayed or in the message of the e-mail.

    摘要: A scanner (40) or other data reader is equipped with a device for determining characteristics of an operator's scanning technique. In a preferred configuration, the scanner (40) is integrated with a weigh scale (41) for obtaining a dynamic weight of an item as the item is moved across the weigh scale (41). Weight data produced by the scanning/weighing process includes information about the amount of lifting the operator performs on scanned items, the rate of scanning by the operator, and rescanning information. The scanner (40) may be connected to a PC-based training system (43) which uses the scanning technique information to provide feedback to the operator indicating the effectiveness of the operator's scanning technique, and may also provide information to management for analysis. The technique information may be collected by a store controller or other suitable collection device for later analysis and reporting.

    摘要: A system and method for delivering purchasing incentives and a variety of other retail shopping aids through a computer network, such as by E-mail over the Interne or the World Wide Web. Customers (10) of retail stores can establish a bi-directional communication link with the system, log in (16) to the system, and then elect to browse among available purchasing incentive offers (18, 22), or elect to explore other shopping aids, such as a shopping list generator (26), a recipe center (30), or simply elect to claim a product rebate or to receive product information. The system merges customer-supplied information (270) with other purchase incentive data (272) and creates a printable graphical image of the purchasing incentive (282) for transmission to the customer. In an alternate embodiment of the invention, the purchase incentive is not transmitted directly to the customer. Instead, the terms of the incentive are transmitted electronically to the retail store (310) designated by the customer, who receives either a token (316) to present at the store or an advisory message. In yet another embodiment of the invention, incentives may be targeted to specific consumers based on a consumer purchase history (502), and transmitted to consumers' computers (510) using electronic mail addresses stored in a consumer database (506), or using a 'personal page' in the computer network, established for each consenting consumer.
