Low drag underwater submerged lifting bodies which can be used as underwater displacement portions of a vessel whose main hull is at sea level are asymmetrical and have improved lift to drag ratios. The lifting bodies have outer surfaces whose shapes are defined in plan and elevation by generally parabolic curves which are different on opposite sides of the lifting bodies.

A method for reducing a wave making resistance caused by a transom stem of a displacement ship that has a transom stem and voyages at a design speed corresponding to Froude's number of 0.2 - 0.4, the transom stem having a shape of a stern bottom profile, in which an inflection point is provided at a predetermined distance forward of a stern end, a slow flow region is formed forwardly of the inflection point and an accelerated flow region is formed rearwardly of the inflection point to make flow fields forward and rearward of the inflection point differ from each other, and a lower end of the stern end is positioned in the vicinity of a designed draught, thereby reducing the wave making resistance.

Water surface ship, has a flat base plane, that is provided with a rectangle and equilateral triangle. One or more paths, that travel between both end of the ship, are concaved into the base plane and parallel to the central axis of the base plane. The top line of the path is higher at the front of ship and lower at the rear. Wave-inhibit units are inlaid or concaved into the side wall of the ship, so the ship would have good function of control and anti-waves.

The invention relates to a ship's hull comprising a first hull part (1) arranged as a hard-chine hull disposed on a second hull part (2) in the shape of a super-slender float. Due to the fact that in service conditions only the aft half of the first hull part intersects the water surface, two separate bow waves develop. By appropriate selection of hull widths and by disposition of the first hull part (1) on the second hull part (2), the bow waves are in phase opposition. This reduces the wave-induced drag of the ship's hull considerably, especially near the critical speed.

The invention relates to a vessel for operating on a body of water comprising: a non-planing hull having a waterline and a longitudinal direction with a forward portion, an aft portion, and a central portion, the hull being configured to have the aft portion with a smaller water displacement relative to a water displacement at the central portion; and an aft foil affixed to the aft hull portion with one or more connecting members, and below the surface of the water, and spaced from the hull, the aft foil having a span, a chord, and a leading edge and a trailing edge relative to a forward direction, wherein the leading edge of the aft foil is tilted at a downward angle relative to the horizontal, wherein the aft foil has a chord and profile in longitudinal cross section, with a configuration to provide a lifting force, the tilt angle of the chord of the aft foil being measured with respect to the horizontal, and wherein the aft foil is oriented to provide a continuous, upward, forwardly directed component of the lifting force.

The invention relates to boat building and can be used in the building and modification of sea-going high-speed keeled monohull sailboats or sail and motor boats with a high sail power to weight ratio, where a single, narrow, wave-penetrating displacement hull is used. To provide for the stable controlled movement of a keeled monohull sailboat or sail and motor boat in wave penetration mode, i.e. in a low wave/hydrodynamic resistance displacement mode, both when heeling and when upright (at the same time effectively counteracting heeling and rocking on all courses), and to provide for the damping of the energy of a broken wave and also for the ability of the boat to self-right to an even keel from a "sail-on-water" position, a stabilized hull for a keeled monohull sailboat or sail and motor boat is configured with an overall width of not more than 50% of the length of the hull and has, in the bottom part thereof, a vertically oriented narrow section (4) of low wave/hydrodynamic resistance, which runs longitudinally along the full length of the boat, is symmetrical about the centreline thereof and has a displacement segment (5) comprising a keel (8) with a heavy bulb, wherein the displacement of the segment is equal to the full unladen weight of the boat. The hull further comprises two narrow longitudinally oriented sponsons (6 and 7), arranged symmetrically in relation to the centreline of the boat, which do not bear the weight of the boat and which have a streamlined shape of low wave/hydrodynamic resistance. Said sponsons are situated above the waterline at the maximum width of the hull, forming two tunnel cavities (10) above the waterline to dampen the energy of a wave broken by the bow and the sponsons.
