A polyurethane elastomer fiber non-woven fabric comprising polyurethane elastomer fiber filaments being melt-bonded with one another, which has a tensile elongation of 100 % or more, a 50 % elongation recovery of 75 % or more and a tear strength per METSUKE of 5.5 gf or more. The non-woven fabric can be prepared by a method comprising providing a thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer having Shore hardness A of 92 or more, drying the elastomer to a water content of 150 ppm or less, and melt-spinning and at the same time spraying it together with a high speed gas stream so as to deposit and laminate into a sheet form. A synthetic leather using the non-woven fabric is also provided. The non-woven fabric has not only excellent elasticity but also high tear strength.

A leather-like sheet material comprising a sheet material composed of a fiber aggregate and a elastic polymer, the sheet material containing a fluorine-containing side-chain-modified urethane compound which satisfies the following requirements (i) to (iii),

The present invention provides a process for the production of the above leather-like sheet material, a modified urethane compound satisfying the above requirements (i) to (iii) for use in the process, and a process for the production of the modified urethane compound. According to the present invention, the leather-like sheet material is excellent in water repellency from a cut cross section and water resistance.

Method for producing an elastic protective material, especially intended for a medical safety glove. The material comprises at least two parts. A core layer (1) is produced by knitting yarn made of high-tenacity polymer fibres; this layer serves to prevent penetration of the glove by a sharp object. The core layer (1) is entirely surrounded by one or several polymer layers (2), which serve to prevent gas or liquid from penetrating the glove. The material is characterized in that, particularly to optimize the sensibility and safety, at least one knitted layer (1') belonging to the core layer (1) is produced to a knitted structure using a machine gauge of at least 10 needles per English inch.

Elastomer-coated fabric products (30) having predetermined potential extension in the fabric's machine direction and processes for producing the same are provided. The fabric product (30) of the invention preferably includes an elastomer-coated warp-knit, weft-insert fabric (32) whereby the warp knit yarns (38) provide a first potential elongation (as by selection of the type and/or denier of yarns employed). The fabric (32) is compressed in the machine direction (as by overfeeding the fabric to a tenter frame (18) during production) so as to provide a second potential elongation, and is maintained in its compressed state by virtue of the elastomer coating (34) thereon. The first and second elongation potentials thus collectively establish the total potential elongation for the fabric (32) in the machine direction. The cross-machine yarns (36), however, are chosen for their inextensible properties so that the fabric product (30) of this invention will provide lateral support to end use products employing the same as a reinforcing medium, such as tires, power transmission belts, conveyor belts, and the like.

A polyester plain weave fabric construction wherein said fabric has a basis weight of between 150 to 300 g/m2 with tongue tear strength equal to or better than nylon fabrics of the same construction and weight. The present invention relates to both coated and uncoated polyester filament woven fabric. The uncoated fabric is useful for industrial purposes wherein the fabric has a warp tongue tear resistance of at least 0.75 N/g/m2, when the fabric basis weight is between 150 to 300 g/m2 The preferred uncoated polyester filament yarn has a linear density of between about 200 to about 800 dtex, a tenacity of at least 65 cN/tex, a tensile index of at least 350. The fabrics can be coated with chloroprene, neoprene, polyurethane, silicone or other organic coatings to reduce air permeability. The fabric of the present invention may also be constructed with the warp and/or filling yarn having an aspect ratio between 1.2 and 6.
