The edges of the contact ride in a guide channel in the connector housing (14). The housing (14) includes a pair of opposed sidewalls (18) joined by a pair of opposed spaced webs (40). A tapered access to the connector is defined by at least one-flexible prong (24) integrally joined to the upper edge (22) of each of the connector's sidewalls and turned inwardly in opposed relationship. The trailing edges (26) of the prongs (24) cooperate with the upper edges (42) of the webs (40) to create an improved strain relief.

    摘要: The connector comprises a housing (110) having an infeed opening (112) for an electrically-insulated wire. The housing (110) accommodates a fixed contact (114), a pivotally mounted pressure lever (116) acted upon by a compression spring (134) and a pivotally mounted operating member (118) having a cam surface (132) engageable with the pressure lever. The fixed contact (114) and the pressure lever (116) both have co-operating, longitudinally-offset, insulation-penetrating parts (120 and 126). Pivotable movement of the operating member (118) from a first to a second position moves the pressure lever (116) against the action of the spring (134) into a position (as shown in the Figure) in which the penetrating parts (120 and 126) cut into the insulation of a wire extending through the infeed opening (112) and grip the wire in a manner which electrically connects the conductor of the wire to the fixed contact (114). Preferably the pressure lever (116) is mounted so that it can automatically compensate for different wire conductor diameters.

    摘要: An electrical connector particularly of the insulation displacement type. It comprises an electrically insulated main body, provided with a connector arm slidably mounted through the body to project from the body at either end. The connector arm has a pair of accessible holes for receiving a wire pair to be shorted in the connector to complete an electrical circuit. An electrically conductive element defining a pair of opposed slits aligned to be in the path of travel of the wire receiving holes, are mounted in the body, the conductive element forming a passageway in which the connector arm slides. Acutation of the connector arm moves the wire pair through the slit which is dimensioned to sever the wire insulation and short the wire pair through the metallic plates. To release the wire pair the connector arm is moved in the opposite direction and the connector is then reusable.

    摘要: A connector, for use for connection of local conductors to a distribution cable, in telephone systems, has a body in which are a plurality of recesses. Insulation displacing terminals are positioned in the recesses, the lower part of each terminal connecting to a cable conductor. Connector members are pushed into the recesses by a trapped screw in each connector member. Local conductors are inserted into transverse passages or bores and as a connector member is pushed down, the top ends of the terminals pass up into the connector member and make contact with the conductive cores of the conductors. Particularly, a connector can be a single unit with two recesses; a unitary body with a plurality of pairs of recesses, or a plurality of units each with two recesses.
