A fabric or cord is treated with an elastomeric material comprising 20-80 parts per hundred cross-linkable materials of liquid elastomer. In one aspect, the liquid elastomer has a complex dynamic viscosity less than 5 McP (5,000 N*s/m 2 ) at a temperature between 20°C and the maximum flow temperature (T F max) of the elastomeric material. The elastomeric material, prior to cure, has a complex dynamic viscosity of less than 5 McP (5,000 Ns/m 2 ) for at least 2 minutes at its maximum flow temperature (T F max). The coated fabric and cord materials are useful as facing fabrics for power transmission products.

A stock rubber is provided with chopped aramid fibers and chopped polyester fibers blended in the rubber component, which is EPDM. The chopped polyester fibers are longer than the chopped aramid fibers. A transmission V-belt is obtained and molded from the stock rubber. In this tension member (2), a high strong glass is employed as the aforementioned glass fiber, the number of the aforementioned unidirectional twisting is 2.2 to 3.0 cycles/inch, and, the diameter of the code is 0.65 to 0.90 mm or the area occupied by the aforementioned glass in a cross section of the code is 0.22 to 0.26 mm 2 . Due to the above structure, the resistance of the belt to water and flex fatigue is improved, without detriment to the high strength of the belt. Further, the impact resistance of the belt can be improved by employing a code wherein the share of the area occupied by the glass in that of a cross section of the code is 45 to 70 %.

A power transmission belt comprising a laminate composed of an adhesive rubber layer containing core wires buried therein and a compressed rubber layer and further a canvas adhered around the periphery of the laminate, wherein the canvas is impregnated with an aqueous latex composition comprising a 2-chloro-1, 3-butadiene/2,3-dichloro-1,3-butadiene copolymer latex. The belt is manufactured without using any organic solvent, is excellent in thermal resistance, and has a high adhesiveness between the rubber layers and the canvas.
