摘要:
An arc-welding method, which comprises: arc-welding objects of welding together along the line of a groove formed between said objects of welding by continuously moving a welding electrode along the line of said groove while reciprocating said welding electrode in the width direction of said groove; characterized by: calculating at prescribed time intervals, for each one reciprocation of said welding electrode in the width direction of said groove, deviations (l-lo) of values (I) of one of arc current and arc voltage from a previously set reference value (lo), for each of left-side deviations (L) and right-side deviations (R) relative to the vertical plane which passes through the center of amplitude of said one reciprocation of said welding electrode and is parallel to the line of said groove; calculating at said time intervals, when said welding electrode moves over the left side of said groove relative to said vertical plane, differences (L-R) between said left-side deviations (L) and the immediately preceding right-side deviations (R), to controllably aligning the center of said amplitude of said one reciprocation of said welding electrode with the center of said groove In the width direction thereof at said prescribed time intervals so that said differences (L-R) become null; and, calculating at said prescribed time intervals, when said welding electrode moves over the right saide of said groove relative to said vertical plane, differences (L-R) between said right-side deviations (R) and the immediately preceding left-side deviations (L), to controllably aligning the center of said amplitude of said one reciprocation of said welding electrode with the center of said groove in the width direction thereof at said prescribed time intervals so that said differences (L-R) become null.

A welding method for rotating a nozzle (3) within a groove (2) by deflecting a welding electrode (9) from the central axis (a), which comprises the steps of bringing the central axis (a) of the nozzle to the center of the groove (2) by smoothing the varying value of welding current or voltage at every half clockwise or counterclockwise rotation of the nozzle and controlling so as to move the nozzle horizontally at a right angle of the welding direction, and maintaining the height with respect to the groove (2) at a prescribed distance by smoothing the varying value of the welding current or voltage and controlling so as to move the nozzle (3) vertically so that the difference between the value and the set value becomes zero.

A rigid marine sail comprises sail portions (6B) pivotably movable between an open and a closed position about an axis forward of a rotatable mast (1). Signals representative of the wind velocity at predetermined time intervals and signals representative of the wind direction at said intervals are each smoothed (16) and, on the basis of the smoothed signals, a determination is made whether the sail portions are to be open or closed, and the sail is operated accordingly (11,17,18,19). An optimum sail angle is determined for maximum propulsive effect when open and minimum said wind resistance when closed, and the mast and sail is rotated (5,20,21,22) as a whole in accordance with the optimum angle. This permits automatic and effective utilization of the wind force when of a suitable velocity in a suitable direction.

Disclosed herein is a water-dispersion-type hot-rolling lubricant for the production of seamless steel pipes. This lubricant features the inclusion of a salt of a polybasic high molecular acid in addition to fine graphite powder, a water-insoluble fine particulate synthetic resin and water as principal components and fine gilsonite powder as an optional component. Even when the surface temperature of a mandrel bar is in a high temperature range of 100-400 DEG C, this lubricant can form a uniform and thick coating film on the surface of the bar so that the lubricant can exhibit extremely good hot-rolling lubrication performance.

A reference line and a crack are imaged by using ITV cameras (22, 23), the brightness level is integrated for each raster in the same direction as the reference line, and a position of the reference line is detected from a maximum brightness level, in order to prepare a fatigue test piece (10) which has a crack of a specified length while monitoring the distance between the reference line and the tip of the crack developed in the fatigue test piece (10) on which the reference line is drawn by marking. At the same time, continuity of high-level values is determined from the image signals, and the position of the tip of the crack is detected from this determination. A difference between the two detected positions is found, and the test piece (10) is so machined that the difference will be a predetermined length.

A surface combustion burner of a multi-layered construction, wherein a layer made of a flame resistant material such as a ceramic material and a support layer such as a metallic fiber mat are laminated with each other. The said surface combustion burner comprises a first layer (1) made of a flame resistant material and forming a gas combustion zone, a second layer (2) for feeding gas to the first layer and supporting the latter, said first and second layers being sewn together and joined with each other by flame resistant yarns (4), and further, a third layer (3) joined with the second layer by sintering.
