Provided is an adhesive dispensing device for use in a Layered Object Manufacturing (LOM) system for forming a three-dimensional (3D) object, the device configured to apply adhesive to a plurality of object media layers each comprising a temporary region (1) and a permanent region (2). A first adhesive is applied to the temporary regions (1) and a second adhesive is applied to the permanent regions (2). Further provided are first and second adhesive formulations, a bonding module for bonding a plurality of individual object media layers using the first and second adhesives, and a LOM system comprising the bonding module. Also provided is a method for self-weeding of a LOM object.

An endoprobe (400) for ophthalmic microsurgical procedures including a hand-piece (150) including a motor, a cannula assembly coupled to the hand-piece, and a transmission system (127) coupling the motor to the cannula assembly is provided. The cannula assembly having an outer tube (140) and an inner tube (130) concentric with the outer tube, each able to rotate about the longitudinal axis and having a proximal end and a distal end. The transmission system rotates the outer tube in a first direction and the inner tube in a second, opposing direction about the longitudinal axis.

Membrane forceps for performing an ILM or ERM peel procedure include a handle, a tube extending from the handle, and forceps jaws extending from the tube. The forceps jaws may be configured to grasp an ILM or ERM, and may include an outer surface having a roughened surface. The roughened surface may be structurally configured to aid in gaining an edge of the ILM or ERM.

Disclosed herein is an implantable capsule expander device for insertion within a lens capsule of an eye of a patient. The device comprises an arcuate center portion including first and second rims and having a first height, an outermost peripheral portion including a second height that is less than the first height, and a receiving portion formed between the first and second rims. The center portion and the outermost peripheral portion are configured to stabilize the capsule expander device within the lens capsule and to expand the lens capsule. The receiving portion is sized to receive an artificial intraocular lens.
摘要:
During small incision surgery, and particularly during ophthalmic surgery, small probes are inserted into the operative site to cut, remove, or otherwise manipulate tissue. During these surgical procedures, fluid is typically infused into the eye using an infusion system, and the infusion fluid and tissue are aspirated from the surgical site using an aspiration system. The infusion and aspiration systems must be primed prior to surgery. Gas can become trapped within the infusion system and the aspiration system, which can cause certain problems. In prior systems, the system and method of priming the surgical cassette did not remove the trapped gas from the systems. Therefore, a need continues to exist for an improved system and method of priming a surgical cassette.

In certain embodiments, a system (10) comprises a laser source (20), one or more optical elements (24), a monitoring device (28), and a control computer (30). The laser source (20) emits one or more laser pulses. The optical elements (24) change a pulse length of the laser pulses, and the monitoring device (28) measures the pulse length of the laser pulses to detect the change in the pulse length. The control computer (30) receives the measured pulse length from the monitoring device (28), determines one or more laser parameters that compensate for the change in the pulse length, and controls the laser source (20) according to the laser parameters.

A cataract surgical system includes a laser source to generate a first set of laser pulses; a guiding optic to guide the first set of laser pulses to a cataract target region in an eye; a laser controller to generate an electronic representation of a target scan pattern, and to control the guiding optic to scan the first set of laser pulses according to a portion of the target scan pattern to create a first photo-disrupted region in the cataract target region; and a Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomographic (SD-OCT) imaging system to generate an image of a portion of the first photo-disrupted region. The laser controller can generate an electronic representation of a modified scan pattern in relation to the image generated by the SD-OCT imaging system, and control the guiding optic to scan a second set of laser pulses according the modified scan pattern.
