摘要: A method of correcting distortion of an image, including: analyzing, by a processor, an image segment of the image to identify a speckle artifact, the image segment being obtained from a scanning imaging device; determining, by the processor, an aspect ratio of a shape of the speckle artifact; determining, by the processor, a correction factor for the shape of the speckle artifact based on the aspect ratio; and adjusting, by the processor, a dimension of the image segment based on the correction factor.

摘要: In one aspect, the invention relates to one or more rotatable elements and one or more stationary element such that the elements are arranged along a common axis of rotation co-linear with or substantially parallel to an optical path. The optical path is a portion of a sample arm of an interferometer. Further, the rotatable and stationary elements are configured to couple electrical signals and optical signals between a data collection probe and an interface unit or other component of an imaging system. In one embodiment, the data collection probe is a combination ultrasound and OCT probe. In one aspect, the invention relates to a rotary joint in which the optical fiber and fiber optic rotary joint lie in the center of one or more conductive elements of an electrical rotary joint which are annularly disposed around one or both of the optical fiber and optical rotary joint.

摘要: The present invention provides a probe with multiparametric features, a system and a method for using the probe for identifying and localizing a site for a tumour biopsy. The probe is essentially tube shaped and accommodate optical fibres, wherein at least one optical fibre pair is arranged in close proximity towards the distal end (D), wherein at least one fibre of the fibre pair is operatively connected via the proximal end (P) to a blue laser light source and/or a light source in the red or near infrared region and/or a white light for the DRS, and a detector unit. By using the probe for localizing and imaging a tumour before performing a biopsy for diagnosis, use of said probe significantly reduces the risk that the biopsy is removed from a part not reflecting the actual tumor tissue. Moreover, the risk to cause hemorrhage in the track is significantly reduced due the combined vessel tracking feature in the probe.

摘要: Described are an imaging device and method for determining three-dimensional position information of a surface of an object. The device includes a pair of optical fibers, a phase shifter, a detector array and a processor. The phase shifter is coupled to one of the optical fibers and is used to change a phase of optical radiation emitted from the optical fiber relative to a phase of optical radiation emitted from the other optical fiber. The detector array receives optical radiation scattered by the surface of the object. The processor communicates with the detector array and the phase shifter. Signals generated by the detector array are received by the processor and three-dimensional position information for the surface is calculated in response to the received optical radiation scattered by the surface of the object and the change in the relative phase of optical radiation emitted by the optical fibers.

摘要: Before a fluorescent labeling agent is administered on an observation area, the observation area is irradiated with an excitation light for fluorescence quenching. An image taking unit (3) captures two fluorescence images at a predetermined time interval during the irradiation with the excitation light. The first fluorescence image is written to a first frame memory (17a), and a second fluorescence image is written to a second frame memory (17b). An image processing circuit (18) reads out the two fluorescence images, and calculates a difference in light intensity between the two fluorescence images. A judgment circuit (26) judges whether or not fluorescence from a fluorescent dye that has already existed in the observation area is quenched based on the difference in light intensity.

摘要: The volume of a hyperinflated lung compartment is reduced by sealing a distal end of the catheter in an airway feeding the lung compartment. Air passes out of the lung compartment through a passage in the catheter while the patient exhales. A one-way flow element associated with the catheter prevents air from re-entering the lung compartment as the patient inhales. Over time, the pressure of regions surrounding the lung compartment cause it to collapse as the volume of air diminishes. Residual volume reduction effectively results in functional lung volume expansion. Optionally, the lung compartment may be sealed in order to permanently prevent air from re-entering the lung compartment. The invention further discloses a catheter with a transparent occlusion element at its tip that enables examination of the lung passageway through a viewing scope.
