    摘要: A surface acoustic wave device is used as a unique word detector and coherent demodulator for a digital code differential phase-shift signal. The device improves code word detection by providing a coherent reference with a correlation gain of 10 log M dB. M is the additional number of fingers introduced into the surface acoustic wave device, which determine the phase of the unique word. To achieve this result with higher reliability and higher correlation coefficient, use is made also of a few bits of the clock recovery which precede the unique word in a preamble as used in Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) systems. The device requires two interdigital output transducers, one (23) of which provides maximum output in response to surface acoustic waves corresponding to a preassigned pattern of the unique word, such as a sequence of all zeros combined with a partial sequence of the clock recovery bits. The outputs of the two interdigital output transducers are maximized at the same instant to detect the auto-correlation peak of the unique word with performance equivalent to coherent demodulation. Also, clock and data are recovered in the second set of interdigital transducers.

    摘要: A digital adaptive finite impulse response (AFIR) filter having a large number of coefficients is composed of two or more separate filter units. The first filter unit computes response samples h o - h n+1 in response to input signal samples to provide a partial estimated response during each sampling period. After the signal samples arefully processed by the first unit, they are transferred to a second filter unit which produces response samples h n+2 - h p±1 in response thereto to provide a second partial response. The sum of the two partial responses is computed to provide the total estimated system response. The two independent filter units thus act simultaneously to provide twice as many coefficients as prior art AFIR filters in the same amount of time.

    摘要: A network of personal communications terminals communicating in a CDMA mode includes a reference station for transmitting a pilot tone that is pre-corrected at the reference station and is used at the remaining stations for frequency control, transmit power control and antenna acquisition and tracking. Voice activation is employed to permit the CDMA system to share the satellite transponder power and bandwidth in a fully Demand-Assignment-Multiple-Accessing (DAMA) manner. Burst-mode operation of a voice activated CDMA system is permitted by sending dummy data in the speech pausing period at a reduced (but not zero) power level, and the "near-far" problem inherent in a CDMA system is mitigated by the use of uplink power control.
