    摘要： Process for preparing organosiloxanes having in the mol- cute at least one unit of the general formula
    which R is C 1-4 alkyl or a phenyl group, R' represents an aliphatic or aromatic group composed of carbon, hydrogen and optionally oxygen and having a valency of n + 1, Y represents )H or alkoxy, is 0, 1 or 2, is 0 or 1 and n is 1, 2 or 3. The process comprises reacting an organosiloxane having silicon- onded hydroxyalkyl or hydroxyaryl substituents with the appropriate acid chloride.
    The organosiloxanes absorb ultra violet radiation and are seful as sunscreen agents.
    Also claimed are certain novel siloxanes which can be ob- ained by the said process.

    摘要： A safety locking arrangement is provided on a valve for control of fluid flow comprising a valve body (1) having a seat (2) with a flow passage passing therethrough and a valve closure member (16) located within the body. The valve closure member is adapted to engage the seat to effect closure of the valve. The valve closure member is carried by a cap (10) adapted to enter into screwthreaded (3) engagement with the valve body at the mouth thereof. To ensure retention of the cap on the body, the cap additionally enters into screw-threaded engagement with an annular retaining means (20) disposed around and formed separately from the valve body, with the valve body itself being so formed in the mouth region that the retaining means cannot be withdrawn therefrom merely by rotation and/or displacement lengthwise of the valve body.

    摘要： A composition characterized in that it contains (A) a polydiorganosiloxane having at least one silicon-bonded OX group, in which X represents hydrogen, alkyl or alkoxyalkyl, and at least one aminoalkyl or polyaminoalkyl acid salt substituent derived from a water-soluble organic or inorganic acid, (B) a silicon compound e.g. methyltrimethoxysilane which is soluble in (C) and which has per molecule more than two silicon-bonded groups reactive with the OX groups in (A), and (C) a water-soluble solvent for (A) selected from aliphatic alcohols, glycols and polyglycols and their ethers and esters.
    The compositions are useful as coating compositions and in particular can be diluted with water for application as water repellents to masonry and similar substrates.
