An object of the present invention is to provide a photocurable ink composition for ink-jet printing, which exhibits excellent curing properties in response to light from light emitting diodes (LEDs), is adhered well to a polyvinyl chloride sheet such as tarpaulin or a vinyl chloride resin sheet, can sufficiently reduce cockling, has a low viscosity but a high flash point, and can achieve both of good jetability at a normal temperature and good safety properties owing to these properties. The ink composition for ink-jet printing includes at least: photopolymerizable compounds; a photopolymerization initiator; and a sensitizer, and has a flash point of higher than 60°C when measured with a SETA closed-cup flash point tester by a method in accordance with JIS K2256. The photopolymerizable compounds include 2-methoxyethyl acrylate and/or 2-ethoxyethyl acrylate, and N-vinyl caprolactam, and an acrylated amine compound having two photopolymerizable functional groups and two amino groups in the molecule. The total amount of 2-methoxyethyl acrylate and/or 2-ethoxyethyl acrylate is 20 to 50% by mass of the photocurable ink composition for ink-jet printing. The photopolymerization initiator includes a compound that comes to function as an initiator in response to light having a wavelength of 450 to 300 nm. The sensitizer includes a compound that comes to function as a sensitizer in response to light having a wavelength of 400 nm or longer.

This invention provides a process for producing an ink composition for offset printing, which can significantly improve the productivity of ink while utilizing acidic carbon black, particularly acidic beaded carbon black, and can produce ink capable of providing printed matter, by sheet-fed printing, having print quality comparable favorably with printed matter produced by ink using acidic powder carbon black, and an ink composition for offset printing produced by the production process. The production process is characterized by comprising the steps of wetting 100 parts by mass of acidic carbon black having a pH value of 2.0 to 6.0 with 25 to 400 parts by mass of a wetting agent containing at least water, flushing the wetted acidic beaded carbon black with varnish, for oil-based printing ink, containing an alkyd resin having an acid value of not more than 30 KOH mg/g, and then removing the wetting agent.

The present invention is to provide a method of producing pigment dispersions which can be suitably used in the fields where higher levels of coloring manifesting ability and fluidity are required, such as in ink jet recording liquids or color filter coloring compositions, and in which pigments are dispersed to such a finer particle size that renders them applicable in the field of printing inks or the like as well and, further, which show very good pigment dispersion stability even after the lapse of time. The present invention is directed to a method of producing aqueous pigment dispersions which comprises a mixture comprising a pigment, at least one species selected from the group consisting of polymeric emulsifiers having an HLB value of not less than 5 and surfactants having an HLB value of not less than 5, and an aqueous medium passing through an orifice having neither curves nor bends under pressure and, further, ejecting said mixture into that preceding portion of the mixture which has been ejected and is retained in a hollow member larger in diameter than the orifice to thereby attain dispersion of the pigment in the aqueous medium.

Provided is a method for producing a gas barrier paper packaging material which can impart sufficient gas barrier properties even when a barrier coating agent for forming a barrier layer is applied in a dry amount of 2 g/m2 or less. The method for producing a gas barrier paper packaging material at least includes: a barrier layer forming step of applying a barrier coating agent to one side of a sealant film to form a barrier layer; and a lamination step of laminating the barrier layer and a paper substrate layer via an adhesive layer.
