The solvent comprises a mixture of 80% 1-methoxy-2-propanol and 20% dipropylene glycol monomethyl ether. A particular irreversible temperature indicating paint comprises 34.9wt% cobalt chromite spinel, alumina, gold purple and frit, 42.5wt% acrylic resin and 22.6wt% silicone resin excluding solvent. The irreversible temperature indicating paint has four or more colour changes in the temperature range 500°C to 900°C. The irreversible temperature indicating paint is used to determine the temperatures to which various parts of turbine blades, turbine vanes or other component are subjected in operation of a gas turbine engine.

A temperature measuring device engageable with a surface of any contour to determine the temperature of each of the several portions of the surface by providing a thermal map of the portions of the surface engaged. The surface engaged by the device may be a portion of a person or a portion of an object or the like. The map is observable and may be photographed if a record thereof is desired. The temperature measuring device has a flexible portion (20) engageable with the surface and conformable to the surface. The portion (20) which engages the surface includes a coating (24) of cholesteric material, such as microencapsulated liquid crystal material which is temperature-sensitive and light-reflecting. The device also includes a transparent fill material (30) therewithin to transmit the thermal image or map therethrough. Thus, a thermal map or image of the surface is provided which is observable and/or recordable through a transparent portion (28) of the device.

The present invention provides a carbon-coated vanadium dioxide particle which can suppress interparticle sintering during high-temperature firing, has high crystallinity and high oxidation resistance, and can maintain excellent thermochromic properties even after long-term storage or use. The present invention also aims to provide a resin composition, a coating film, a film, an interlayer film for laminated glass, a laminated glass, and a film to be attached each obtained using the carbon-coated vanadium dioxide particle. The present invention relates to a carbon-coated vanadium dioxide particle, including a vanadium dioxide particle and a coating layer containing amorphous carbon on a surface of the vanadium dioxide particle. The amorphous carbon is derived from carbon contained in an oxazine resin and has a peak intensity ratio of a G band to a D band of 1.5 or greater as determined from a Raman spectrum. The coating layer has an average thickness of 50 nm or less. The coating layer has a coefficient of variation (CV value) of thickness of 7% or less.
