A fiber management tray (20) is disclosed. The fiber management tray (20) includes a tray body (22) defining a fiber storage region (24) for storing excess optical fiber length (26). The tray body (22) also includes a splice mount (28) for mounting at least one optical splice (30). The fiber management tray (20) includes a restricted access region (32) and an unrestricted access region (34) on the tray body (22). The splice mount (28) and the fiber storage region (24) are provided at the unrestricted access region (34), and an optical splitter component (36) is provided at the restricted access region (32).
摘要:
A sensor array cable (1) and method of construction thereof utilizing a sensor/interlink assembly (3, 6) to facilitate the relatively easy and inexpensive installation of a sensor device (3) in a cable that includes a strength member (4) to provide tensile strength to the cable, optical fibers or wires for carrying electrical or optical energy to and from the sensor device, and a protective outer jacket (8). A portion of the protective outer jacket is removed allowing access to the inner strength (4) and optical fibers (7). A segment of the strength member (4) is removed and an interlink/sensor assembly (3, 6) is installed in its place. The interlink serves to maintain the tensile strength of the cable. Optical fibers (7) and/or electrical wires are connected to the sensor device for operation. The interlink/sensor assembly (3, 6) and associated optical fibers and electrical wires are then enclosed in an overmold (9) which is sealed to the outer protective jacket.

A method and system of intrusion detection for a multimode fiber optic cable (12). A signal is launched into the cable (12) to establish a narrow spectral width, under-filled non-uniform mode field power distribution in the cable (12). A small portion of the higher order signal modes arriving at the remote end (28) of the cable (12) is sampled and monitored for transient changes in the mode field power distribution, which changes with physical disturbance of the cable (12). When changes characteristic of fiber intrusion are detected, an alarm activates. Attempt to access optical fibers in a communication cable can be sensed and alarmed. The active signal of a multimode optical fiber (12) is monitored for signal degradation and transient power disturbance patterns that could indicate fiber damage or physical intrusion. Using adaptive filtering, normal background disturbances from heating/cooling systems, motors, fans and other building systems can be filtered out.
