Abstract:
A monitoring system includes a monitoring device including an optical transmitter and an optical receiver, an optical repeater, and a first MCF transmission path and a second MCF transmission path, each of the paths includes cores, and connects the monitoring device and the optical repeater with each other via the plurality of cores, the optical transmitter generates an optical pulse, and inputs the optical pulse to a first core included in the cores of the first MCF transmission path, the optical repeater loops-back the optical pulse being received from the first core to a second core included in the cores of the second MCF transmission path, and the optical receiver receives the optical pulse being looped-back, as an optical reception pulse, from the cores of the second MCF transmission path, and calculates a corrected reception level, based on the optical reception pulse.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device and a method performed by the device of monitoring an optical fibre link. The method provided for monitoring an optical fibre link comprises generating a monitoring signal used for monitoring the optical fibre link, combining the generated monitoring signal with a data signal to be transmitted over the optical fibre link, detecting backscattering of the monitoring signal from the optical fibre link, comparing the detected backscattered monitoring signal with an estimated monitoring signal backscattered along the optical fibre link, and determining, based on the comparison, at least one location along the optical fibre link where the monitoring signal is backscattered, and signal loss caused by the backscattering.
Abstract:
A method for allocating faults in a passive optical network (PON) by placing a number of passive unique optical correlators in a number of respective diagnostic points of the PON, each of the passive unique optical correlators being responsive to an optical diagnostic signal by returning a predetermined unique matching signal; by further transmitting the diagnostic optical signal in the PON towards the diagnostic points to receive upstream response signals from the correlators. Upon detecting presence or absence, in the received response signals, of a predetermined unique matching signal expected from a specific optical correlator, judging about a fault in proximity of the respective specific diagnostic point.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention disclose a method, an apparatus, a device, and a system for detecting an optical network, and an optical splitter. The method includes: receiving, by a management device, a reflection peak power reported by a testing device, where the reflection peak power is a reflection peak power of an optical splitter that is obtained by the testing device according to a reflected optical signal, the reflected optical signal is an optical signal obtained by reflecting, by the optical splitter, a testing optical signal that is sent by the testing device and is transmitted to the optical splitter through an optical cable, and the optical splitter reflects the testing optical signal by using a reflective film disposed on an end surface of one optical output port; and detecting the optical network by comparing the reflection peak power with a preset reflection power of the optical splitter. According to the embodiments of the present invention, because a detector does not need to carry a testing device to a site at which an optical splitter is disposed, to perform detection, efficiency of detecting performance of an optical network is improved.
Abstract:
The disclosure includes an apparatus comprising: a path computation element (PCE) comprising a processor configured to: receive a path computation element protocol (PCEP) path computation request from a path computation client (PCC), wherein the path computation request comprises an impairment validation request that directs the PCE to perform an impairment validation of a network path; after receiving the path computation request, compute a network path; and perform an impairment validation of the network path specified by the impairment validation request. In another embodiment, the disclosure includes a method comprising: sending, by a PCC a PCEP path computation request to a PCE, wherein the request directs the PCE to perform routing and wavelength assignment (RWA) and a first impairment validation of a network path, wherein the request comprises a type of signal quality of the network path which indicates the first type of impairment validation to be performed.
Abstract:
In a first aspect, the method and apparatus of the present disclosure can be used to periodically and/or intermittently place one or more ONUs attached to a PON in a power savings mode so that an OTDR test can be performed. While in the power savings mode, the ONUs temporarily suspend their transmitter function and power down their upstream lasers. In a second aspect, the method and apparatus of the present disclosure can be used to coordinate the performance of OTDR during one or more periodic or intermittent discovery slots used to detect and register ONUs recently connected to the PON. Because new ONUs are infrequently connected to the PON and ONUs already registered are not permitted to transmit during the discovery windows, OTDR can be performed during these windows without impacting, to a great degree, the normal operation of the PON.
Abstract:
The embodiments of the present invention relate to optical communication technologies, and provide a method, an apparatus, and a unit for detecting a fault of a submarine device. The apparatus includes: a pair of optical couplers that are respectively set on two optical cables for transmitting optical signals in opposite direction and are configured to receive or send optical detection signals through the optical cables, where: the two optical couplers are connected through an optical fiber that transmits an optical detection signal, and a photosensitive component is set on the optical fiber and is configured to adjust an optical parameter of the optical detection signal by perceiving change of an ambient environment state parameter when a fault occurs. The embodiments of the present invention bring benefits of detecting whether a target submarine device is faulty, and locating a cause for the fault of the submarine device accurately.
