There are disclosed metallic soap fine particles which have an average particle size of 4 µm or smaller and have a content of particles having particle sizes of 10 µm or larger of at most 4% by weight based on the whole metallic soap fine particles; a process for producing the metallic soap fine particles, comprising mixing (a) an aqueous solution containing 0.001 to 20 % by weight of an alkali metal salt or an ammonium salt of a fatty acid having 4 to 30 carbon atoms with (b) an aqueous solution or dispersion containing 0.001 to 20 % by weight of an inorganic metal salt at a specific temperature to form a slurry of the metallic soap, and drying the resultant slurry at a specific temperature. The metallic soap, which has remarkably fine particles and narrow particle size distribution, is well suited for use e.g. as a toner additive in an electrophotographic copying machine by virtue of the improvements in blocking resistance, fluidity and eliminability of the toner, and also as a cleaning aid in the same owing to the improvement in cleaning performance for residual toner without impairing the surface of a picture image support.

There is provided a toner for a two-component type developer, which comprises (i) toner particles comprising a fixing resin having anionic polar groups, a coloring agent, and a magnetic powder which is used in an amount of 0.1 to 5 parts by weight for 100 parts by weight of the fixing resin, and (ii) an additive comprising silica, alumina and titania, and being adhered on surfaces of the toner particles in a total amount of 0.15 to 2 parts by weight for 100 parts by weight of the toner particles, and contains substantially no charge control agent. The toner exhibits a stable chargeability during a long-term use without generation of a spent toner. As a result, the toner suppresses the image fogging and the toner scattering, and ensures a stable image density and a high image quality for a long term.

A data processing form for use with photo-sensing apparatus that detect the presence of indicia at indicia-receiving locations on the form. The form is composed of a sheet of carrier material and plurality of indicia-receiving locations. The indicia-receiving locations are defined by a mutable colored composition including a mutable colorant and an ultraviolet radiation transorber such that the indicia-receiving locations are adapted to become substantially undetectable by photo-sensing apparatus upon irradiating the colored composition with ultraviolet radiation at a dosage level sufficient to irreversibly mutate the colorant. The colored composition may be irradiated with radiation in the ultraviolet region of the ultraviolet spectrum. Also disclosed is a data processing form that includes a plurality of mutable indicia, at least a portion of which are adapted to become substantially undetectable by photo-sensing apparatus upon irradiation with an effective dosage level of ultraviolet radiation such as, for example, ultraviolet radiation. One embodiment of the present invention encompasses a method for improving the readability of a data processing form used in photo-sensing apparatus. Another embodiment of the present invention encompasses a method of modifying indicia on a data processing form used in photo-sensing apparatus.

The invention provides toner for a two-component type developer containing toner particles including a binder resin and magnetic powder dispersed in the binder resin. The binder resin is made of a component including a resin having an anionic polar group. The magnetic powder is included in the toner particles at a proportion of 0.1 through 5 parts by weight on the basis of 100 parts by weight of the binder resin. The toner particles have a volume-based average particle diameter of 5 through 15 µm. Spacer particles having a volume-based average particle diameter of 0.05 through 1.0 µm are attached onto the surfaces of the toner particles.

The shell may prevent a crystalline resin in the core from migrating to the toner surface. A toner is provided which is excellent in development stability in both a low-temperature, low-humidity environment and a high-temperature, high-humidity environment over a long time period. The toner includes toner particles containing at least a binder resin and a colorant, and a fatty acid metal salt. The fatty acid metal salt has a volume-based median diameter (D50s) of 0.15 Êm or more and 0.65 Êm or less, and the liberation ratio of the fatty acid metal salt in the toner is 1.0% or more and 25.0% or less.
