摘要: A coded-signal decoding circuit in which, when a signal indicating a transition state from a synchronized state to an asynchronous state is outputted from a synchronous state register (8), data "0" generated by a "0" generating circuit (20) are stored in a data memory (10) instead of an output of an audio signal generating circuit (6), thus initializing the data memory (10) in advance. In a conventional coded-signal decoding circuit, when a transition was made from a synchronized state to an asynchronous state after failing to establish synchronization, the data memory (10) had to be initialized at a point in time before starting the next synchronous detection, presenting a problem in terms of time. The invention further provides a synchronous control method.

摘要: The invention uses digital techniques for defeating the effects of the analog copy protected signal while the signal is in the digital domain. The types of copy protection signals includes pseudo sync pulses and AGC pulses. Additionally digital techniques may be used for reducing or eliminating the effects of a chroma copy protection process (Figs. 10-14). A digital video copy protection eliminator allows removal of substantially all pseudo sync pulses and/or AGC pulses in the digital domain. The location of pseudo syncs and/or AGC pulses are determined, while the signal is in the digital domain. These known pixel locations of all or some of the pseudo syncs and/or AGC pulses are used to digitally modify the signal so as to effectively remove the pseudo sync pulses and/or AGC pulses.

摘要: The scrambling security of a sync suppressed television signal is enhanced by eliminating the fixed time relationship between the normal color burst component and synchronization information in successive lines of the television signal. Transmission of a first plurality of television lines is delayed to achieve a cumulative delay corresponding at least to the duration of a color burst component of the television signal. The transmission of a second plurality of television lines is subsequently accelerated to reduce the cumulative delay. By repeating the delaying and accelerating steps, the location of the color burst component is varied within the television signal over time. Derivation of a substitute horizontal synchronization pulse from the color burst component is thereby prevented.

摘要: A technique for encrypting and decrypting information signals normally arranged as a succession of lines of active information, with each line having a line timing reference, such as color video information signals. The active video portion is time shifted with respect to the horizontal sync portion of the corresponding line using a predetermined slowly varying time shifting function. The time shifting information is conveyed to the decryption site by encoding the instantaneous value of the time shifting wave form for the beginning of each field in the vertical blanking portion of that field. To provide a reasonable maximum time shifting range, portions of the trailing edge of the active video in the preceding line and portions of the leading edge of the active video in the current line are discarded. During decryption, the original line timing and color burst signals are discarded and new signals are generated which are time displaced from the active videos portion by the original amount before encryption.

摘要: © A television scrambling and descrambling system is disclosed. Transmitter circuit (16, 18) switch between any two consecutive segments of a signal causing delay times which differ from each other by a significant fraction of the horizontal sweep time, thereby scrambling the signal. Switches (40, 42) in the descrambler switch between consecutive time segments corresponding in number and complementary in delay times with the scrambler signal consecutive segments. Differences in the delays of the consecutive segments are provided in one arrangement by surface acoustic wave delay lines (22, 37) in one of at least two signal paths. In another case, a delay line comprising a charge-coupled device (CCD) provides the consecutive signal segments having delay times which differ from each other. Horizontal retrace intervals are detected by a pulse generator (26) which drives the switching between paths or provides clock pulses for the CCD during the horizontal intervals. Switching information is modulated on to an interfering signal (28) which is demodulated by an AM demodulator (48) in the descrambler.

摘要: A multimode scrambling system for video signal transmission systems is described. The system provides for baseband video scrambling controlled by a central originating computer facility. The scrambling of each field of a video changes on a per field basis. The video signal is scrambled in several modes including vertical interval scrambling, alternate line inversion, bogus sync pulse generation, video compression and video offset techniques. A scrambling sequence is sent by a unique algorithm, sent during the vertical interval to each system decoder. The algorithm is reordered for each of a plurality of fields of the video signal and the reordering position is identified by a unique synchronization pulse transmitted during the vertical interval of the video signal. Additional security measures are provided to inhibit a subscriber from avoiding a transmitted disable command, or an attempt to invade the subscriber decoder mechanical packaging security.
