The detecting circuit includes at least one vibration sensor (40) operable for outputting a signal (I1), and a combination of a high pass filters (140) and frequency bandpass filters (52, 152) and variable threshold comparators (54, 154) for processing the signal along first and second signal paths, and at least one microprocessor (60) or microcontroller including a pulse rejection network. The microprocessor can be electronically connected to control the threshold comparators and programmable amplifiers, and activates the object exclusion or rejection mechanism when the pulse rejection network generates an internal signal indicating presence of a hard object.

The invention discloses improvements to a feederhouse on a combine harvester (1). These improvements include a pivoting faceplate (40) between the header (12) and feederhouse (21). The pivoting faceplate has faceplate position indicia (48) to assist an operator in properly positioning the faceplate. The improvements also include a front drum adjustment mechanism (60), which uses a polygonal cam (61) with cam position indicia (62) to properly position the front drum (22). There is also a stone roll mount plate (80) permitting the proper adjustment of the stone roll (27) relative to the feederhouse floor (25A). The threshing head comprises a rotatable threshing cylinder, a concave adjacent to and spaced from the threshing cylinder, means for feeding crop along a flow path to the , space between the threshing cylinder and the concave, and a stone guard door in the flow path. A latch normally retains the door in a closed position, and is operable by a stone above a predetermined size to cause opening of the door and discharge of the stone from the flow path before the stone enters the space between the threshing cylinder and the concave. Door closing mechanism is connected between the door and the front end of the thresher and is operable by movement of the threshing head to a raised position to effect closing of the door.

Object ejecting means (40, 48) are provided in the feeder floor between the first and second portions thereof in a manner so that, when actuated by a non-frangible object, a discontinuity in the floor is created, and the non-frangible object, moved in the first direction across the first floor portion continues moving along this first direction and out of the feeder housing upon reaching said discontinuity and prior to reaching the second portion (50) of the floor.
