摘要： A method of detecting a flow blockage in a pipe comprises the steps of:
(a) arranging a fluid flow along the pipe, the pipe being in fluid communication with a pressure sensor;
(b) configuring the pressure sensor to measure a pressure within the pipe;
(c) recording a plurality of measurements of the pressure within the pipe;
(d) sampling 'n' successive values of the pressure within the pipe;
(e) performing an analytical test on the 'n' successive values, the analytical test producing an output value, the output value being representative of a variation in the individual ones of the 'n' successive values;
(f) comparing the output value to a pre-defined threshold value, the threshold value being indicative of a lack of variation in the individual ones of the 'n' successive values; and
(g) if the output value is less than the threshold value, generating an alert to thereby provide a user with an indication of the presence of a flow blockage in the pipe..

摘要： A downhole pumping system in production tubing having a seal between the intake and discharge of a through tubing downhole pump that automatically deploys when the pump initiates operation. The seal automatically disengages when the pump suspends operating and redeploys when the pump starts operating again. The pumping system can be set at a different depth before restarting the pump. The seal can include a bladder like member that has an opening facing towards the pump discharge, so that discharged fluid expands the bladder radially outward into sealing contact with the tubing.

摘要： The present invention relates to automated systems for testing the efficacy and reliability of distributed temperature sensing (DTS) system. The DTS system has a fibre optic sensing cable laid out on a structure to be monitored, and a DTS unit for sensing temperature along a sensing line at locations thereof. The DTS unit is optically coupled to the sensing cable. The sensing cable is optically coupled to a test cable to form the sensing line. Also provided, is a cooling device for cooling the test cable. A controller periodically actuates the cooling device to thereby test the efficacy and reliability of the DTS system. A relay configured for communication with the DTS unit and the controller is operable to trigger an alarm condition if a temperature drop in the sensing line at a location thereof has been detected. The controller is operable to monitor the response of the DTS unit.
