The invention concerns a circulating fluidized bed reactor based on a multi-inlet cyclone, comprising an elongated riser channel (5; 25), which has a lower portion (4; 24) and an upper portion, whereby solid matter and fluidization gas can be fed into the riser through the lower portion (4; 24). In the upper portion of the riser channel there is a a multi-inlet cyclone which comprises a separation chamber (7; 27), with a set of guide vanes (6; 26), an annular space (8; 28) connected to the separation chamber, an outlet (11; 31) and a return channel (10; 30). According to the invention, the set of guide vanes (6; 26) of the multi-inlet cyclone, the cyclone chamber (7; 27) and the annular space (8; 28) are annularly fitted about the riser channel (5; 25). Pursuant to the invention a solution having advantageous flow dynamics is obtained. The reactor can be used e.g. as a dryer or a steam boiler.

A liquid material drying method whereby a large amount of medium particles (6) are placed on a dispersion plate (9) inside a drying vessel (4), the medium particles (6) are fluidized by means of heated gas blown up through said dispersion plate (9), and supplied liquid material (M) is dried by being caused to adhere to the surfaces of the medium particles (6), the solid component contained in the liquid material being collected continuously in the form of powder, wherein a whirling upward airflow caused by the heated gas is formed, at the least, in the region of the drying vessel (4) above the fluidized layer of medium particles (6), the solid component in the liquid material having detached from the surfaces of the aforementioned medium particles being caused to disperse, float and dry further in this whirling upward airflow.

The present invention relates to a method for preventing agglomeration while drying sticky particles in a fluid bed. The method comprises supplying sticky particles to an upper surface (14) of a perforated conveyor (11) and advancing said sticky particles through the fluid bed (8), supplying drying air flow substantially upwards through the perforated conveyor (11) to the sticky particles on it. While drying the particles exposing them substantially from above to a pulsing air flow so that they are caused to move and to break up agglomerates of sticky particles. This is done while drying and pulsing air flow, the pulsation, and the drying air temperature is controlled. The invention also relates to a fluid bed (8) preventing agglomeration while drying sticky particles.
