This provides the advantages that generalized duplexing operates on more than one RF carrier, and unlike conventional UTRA FDD mode generalized duplexing does not require a fixed frequency duplex spacing between RF carriers.

The cell size can be extended further by ensuring that no transmissions are scheduled for the timeslot subsequent to that in which the channel estimation bursts are scheduled.
