A linkage for guiding a flexible cable between two structures. The linkage comprises a proximal arm with a proximal pivot joint for coupling the proximal arm to a first one of the two structures; and a distal arm which is coupled to the proximal arm by one or more intermediate pivot joints. The distal arm is shaped to follow a three-dimensional curve along a majority of its length. Shaping the distal arm to form a three- dimensional curve along a majority of its length enables the distal arm to pass through a relatively small aperture as the linkage is adjusted between its retracted and extended positions. It also enables the proximal arm to move in a locus of movement which does not interfere with other system components. The linkage can be used to guide a flexible cable between any two structures, for instance a fixed aircraft wing and a slat.

A system for attenuating noise in a cabin of a vehicle is provided in which the vehicle has an interior wall defining the cabin and an exterior wall defining a cavity between the interior wall and the exterior wall. A plurality of actuators are arranged within the cavity, on the interior wall or on the exterior wall for providing a physical actuation resulting in an acoustic disturbance. A plurality of sensors are arranged in the cavity on the interior wall, or on the exterior wall to provide indications of acoustic disturbances. A control system uses the indications from the sensors to generate control signals for the actuators. In one arrangement the sensors are arranged in an array interspersed between the actuators which are also arranged in an array. A drive signal for each actuator is then generated using the signals from sensors adjacent to the actuators.

The locking collar (4) can be retained in the unlocking position by retention formations (5, 9) on the locking collar (4) and body (1) that interengage longitudinally. The locking collar (4) is held captive longitudinally on the body by the coupling collar, and the latter is held captive on the body by an internal circlip (3). The locking formations (10, 11) comprise axially extending teeth of a saw-tooth form. Warning indicator means on said body (1) is exposed only when the locking collar (4) is in the unlocking position.
