摘要: Disclosed is the structure of a glow plug with a combustion pressure sensor which includes a heater unit which is reduced in diameter stepwise. In the structure, the area of a member connecting the heater unit to a housing is made sufficiently large, so that the detection accuracy of the pressure sensor is improved. The structure can further improve the detection accuracy of the pressure sensor. The glow plug 100 includes a substantially cylindrical housing extending in an axial direction; a rod-shaped heater unit that has a front end protruding from the front end of the housing and is movable in the axial direction; a connecting member that connects the heater unit to the housing within the housing and allows the heater unit to move in the axial direction; and a pressure sensor that detects pressure received by the heater unit. The heater unit has a large-diameter portion formed at the rear end thereof and a small-diameter portion formed frontward of the large-diameter portion and having a diameter smaller than the diameter of the large-diameter portion. The connecting member connects the small-diameter portion of the heater unit to the housing within the housing.

This invention relates to a spark plug 1 including an insulator 3, wherein the insulator 3 includes a dense alumina-based sintered body having an average crystal particle diameter of 1.50 µm or more, and the alumina-based sintered body contains Si, a Group 2 element component containing Ba and a Group 2 element other than those, and a rare earth element component, such that a ratio of a content S of the Si component to a total content of the content S and a content A of the Group 2 element component is 0.60 or more, and a method for manufacturing the spark plug 1 prepared through a grinding-shaping process in which the insulator 3 is ground before burning to shape the same.

A spark plug includes a tubular metallic shell extending in an axial direction, and an annular gasket provided around the metallic shell. The gasket is solid and contains copper as a main component and nickel in an amount of 0.1 wt.% or more. The gasket has a maximum thickness of 0.4 mm or more in the axial direction, and the gasket has a Vickers hardness of 30 HV to 150 HV.

As viewed in the direction of the axis X from the front end of the noble metal tip 1, a straight line S1 which connects the center of the noble metal tip 1 and the circumferential center of a proximal end 52 of the ground electrode 51 and a straight line S2 which connects the center of the noble metal tip 1 and a vertex 8 of a protrusion 7 formed at a final end portion 6e of a bead 6 formed by circumferential laser welding form an angle ¸ of 45 degrees. Since the protrusion 7 of the bead is the angle ¸ away from the ground electrode 51, an abnormal discharge is unlikely to be generated.

摘要: A gas sensor diagnostic method includes the steps of counting the reversal number of times that a target air-fuel ratio for an air-fuel mixture to be supplied to an internal combustion engine reverses from a rich side to a lean side or from the lean side to the rich side through a specific air-fuel ratio defined as a boundary of the rich and lean sides; obtaining a detection signal of a gas sensor at constant time intervals during a diagnosis period between a timing when the count for the reversal number is started and a timing when the reversal number reaches a predetermined number; calculating a moderated signal by applying a moderation calculation using a predetermined moderation coefficient to the obtained detection signal; calculating a deviation between the obtained detection signal and the calculated moderated signal; and determining whether the gas sensor is in an abnormal state or not on the basis of the deviation.
