A floor mat having an upper face layer and a base layer, which comprises a plane section and a marginal peripheral section surrounding the plane section, wherein at least a part of the marginal peripheral section contains a belt-like portion which is raised at the side of the upper face layer and extends continuously and substantially in parallel to a marginal peripheral edge thereof; the belt-like portion contains a channel extending longitudinally thereof at the side of the base layer; and the belt-like portion carries at least one convex-concave structure on a wall surface of the channel, with the proviso that, when the convex-concave structure extends transversely of the channel, the convex-concave structure is discontinued on at least a bottom surface of the channel, is disclosed. The floor mat according to the present invention has a sufficient peeling strength obtained by a compression process used for only a short period of time.

A process for the application of tear resistant edge strip material (24) to a rubber base sheet (12) of a launderable dust control mat (20) is provided. The process involves the in-line mating of first and second strips of carboxilated rubber to the longitudinal borders of a rubber sheet (12) by means of a series of pressure rolls (32, 34). The process permits separate rubber sheet (12) and edge strip materials (24) to be joined in a continuous or semi-continuous operation immediately prior to assembly of a mat (20) thereby enhancing material handling efficiencies. An apparatus for carrying out the invention is also provided.

A lightweight dust control mat having enhanced resistance to oxidation and ozonation is provided. The mat includes a rubber backing sheet with a base rubber of NBR or SBR mixed with a polar polymer additive and a chemical blowing agent. The ratio of the base rubber to the polymer additive is between about 1.2 and 9. Following vulcanization, the rubber sheet has a specific gravity of less than about 0.98 and a Bayer ozone cracking incidence factor of 4 or less.

Die Dichtungsmatte besteht aus einem Vliesstoff als Trägerschicht, einer Zwischenschicht aus quellfähigem Ton, vorzugsweise aus Natrium-Bentonit, und einer Deckschicht, die vorzugsweise ebenfalls aus einem Vliesstoff besteht, wobei alle drei Schichten miteinander in einem Nadelstuhl in üblicher Weise vernadelt wurden. Beim Befeuchten quillt der Bentonit auf und bildet die wasserundurchlässige Schicht. Verwendung findet die wasserundurchlässige Dichtungsmatte insbesondere im Wasser- und Deponiebau.

Aftoor mat having costs of manufacture consistent with disposability and yet extended properties. The mat comprises a combination of a continuous filament nylon nonwoven wear surface, and absorbent inner layer comprising a mixture of polymeric microfibers and wood pulp, and a liquid impervious film backing layer. The combination is intermittently bonded such as by means of sonic energy and preferably has means for positioning and retaining the mat on a floor surface. Such means may include a holder device or tacky adhesive applied to the bottom film surface. In use the floor mat of the invention may be printed for decorative or promotional purposes and is sufficiently durable to last up to several weeks under high use conditions while yet being economical to produce. Applications for the floor mat include many consumer and industrial situations where protection from inclement weather is desired as well as in industrial clean rooms, laboratories and hospitals.
