摘要:
A continuous process for the production of a dynamically vulcanized thermoplastic elastomer comprising a thermoplastic resin and a non-halogenated elastomer with a multiolefin content of greater than 3.5 mol% that has been modified in situ with a carboxylic anhydride. The process provides materials with improved elongation at break and ultimate tensile strength that can be produced economically and with reduced environmental impact.

A modified α-olefin polymer which is produced by reacting the following components (i) to (iii) with one another: (i) an α-olefin polymer produced by the homo-polymerization of an α-olefin polymer having 3 or more carbon atoms or the co-polymerization of two or more α-olefin polymers each having 3 or more carbon atoms in the presence of a specific metallocen catalyst and having the following properties (1) to (3): (1) a mesopendad fraction of 40 to 75 mol% or an index of tacticity (M4) of 75 mol% or lower; (2) a molecular weight distribution in terms of PSt as measured by GPC method of 3.0 or lower; and (3) a limiting viscosity [η] (in tetralin, at 135˚C) of 0.01 to 5.0 dl/g; (ii) a radical initiator; and (iii) a monomer or silane coupling agent having a silane group and an ethylenically unsaturated group; and a process for producing a cross-linked product of the modified α-olefin polymer. The modified α-olefin polymer has proper molecular weight distribution and compositional distribution, shows a good coating property at low temperatures (which is a requirement in a reactive hot melt) because it has a low melting temperature, has higher reactivity, compatibility and adhesion property compared to a conventional unmodified α-olefin polymer, produces little decomposition gas because it is a polyolefin material, and has a good adhesion to a polyolefin.

Preparation of butyl rubber based graft co-polymers from halobutyl elastomers using phase transfer catalysts in the presence of a solution of an alkali metal salt of an oxygen or sulfur nucleophile that is bound to a polymeric substrate. Graft co-polymers can be produced of a butyl polymer (isobutene-co-isoprene) and polymeric substrates such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, polybutadiene, polysilanes, polysiloxanes, polyethylene glycol, polyethylene oxide, polyphosphazenes, polyferrocenes or their hybrids.

A composition of the reaction product of (a) an isobutylene-diene copolymer having thereon groups containing carboxylic acid functionality or reactive equivalent thereof, derived from an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic compound; and (b) an amine component comprising at least one aromatic amine containing at least one N-H group capable of condensing with said carboxylic acid functionality, is a useful dispersant viscosity modifier.

A resin particle which has a higher function and is suitable for various uses. The particle has two surfaces composed of two curved surfaces or of one curved surface and one plane and has a boundary line between the two surfaces. In a side view thereof wherein the boundary line is a horizontal line, the resin particle satisfies the relationships (I) 0.1 mu m

The invention relates to new synthesis techniques to form emulsifiers of low color from maleic anhydride and polymers of isobutylene. These emulsifiers satisfy a need for a low color component with a long oil compatible hydrophobic tail and a short hydrophilic moiety.

This invention is directed to a new low molecular weight copolymer (The PIB/UAR copolymer) that may be prepared by reacting a low molecular weight polyisobutene (PIB) having less than about 32 carbon atoms with an unsaturated acidic reagent in the presence of a free radical initiator. No chain transfer agent is required to prepare the low molecular weight PIB/UAR copolymer. The PIB/UAR copolymer may be useful as is, or as an intermediate for (1) polysuccinimides, (2) detergents or dispersants for lube oil or fuels, (3) pour point depressants and (4) surface sizing agents for paper. The PIB/UAR copolymer may be used by itself or as the ester, amide, imide or metal salt derivative of the PIB/UAR copolymer. The PIB/UAR copolymer may be liquid at ambient temperature.
