    摘要: An adhesion promoting composition for enhancing adhesion between an elastomeric substrate and a metal surface which, when applied at least in substantial contact with the metal surface, produces an elastomer-metal adhesive bond that withstands high temperature fluid and corrosive material environments and that can be applied without extensive pretreatment of the metal surface. The adhesion promoting composition comprises a phenolic resin derived from a first phenolic component, a second phenolic component, and a formaldehyde source, wherein the first phenolic component is a monohydroxy aromatic compound, a dihydroxy aromatic compound or a combination thereof, and the second phenolic component is a trihydroxy aromatic compound. A two-part adhesive composition containing a primer component and an overcoat component is also disclosed. The primer component contains the adhesion promoting composition and a first halogenated polyolefin while the overcoat component contains a second halogenated polyolefin and a nitroso compound.

    摘要: Adhesive compositions based on chlorinated polyolefins having chlorine contents greater than about 60 percent and molecular weights greater than about 500. The adhesive compositions contain the chlorinated polyolefin and a crosslinking agent. The chlorinated polyolefins are advantageous in that they can be prepared in an environmentally acceptable manner and can be utilized as a substitute for the traditional chlorinated natural rubber materials utilized in adhesive compositions without compromising adhesive performance. Preferred chlorinated polyolefins are prepared by a process involving the dispersion and chlorination of high surface are apolyolefinic particles in an aqueous medium.

    摘要: A modified chlorinated polypropylene which has superior properties is obtained by the reaction of a chlorinated polypropylene having a molecular weight in the range of from 5,000 to 500,000 with a polyurethane having a molecular weight in the range of from 600 to 200,000. The modified chlorinated polypropylene exhibits excellent adhesion to various kinds of base film and a satisfactory performance with respect to such after-treatments as lamina­tion, boiling and retort processes, and therefore is useful as a binder resin for printing ink or other coating compositions.
