摘要:
A valve train assembly for an internal combustion engine comprises a common carrier which supports the engine's rocker arms by means of individual fulcra each of which preferably forms a part of a hydraulic lash adjuster. Each rocker arm is constructed by deforming a metal sheet into a channel shape, the deformation also forming a part-spherical surface for mating with a surface of the fulcrum. The rocker arms can be snap-fitted on to the fulcra by means of an apertured, resilient sheet.

Apparatus for adjusting the timing of a valve, particularly but not exclusively for use with a four-stroke internal combustion engine, is disclosed. The apparatus includes a cam (1), which engages a cam follower (4) which is arranged to actuate a valve mechanism (3) in response to rotation of the cam (1). The cam follower (4) is moveable in translation relative to the axis of rotation of the cam (1) to vary the extent of actuation of the valve in response to rotation of the cam (1). The cam follower (4) is shaped so that for a part of a cycle of rotation of the cam (1), the line of action of the force from the cam (1) to the follower (4) forces the follower (4) to move in translation. This movement is greater at low cam rotational speeds than at high cam rotational speeds and, due to the profile of the surfaces of the follower, the translational movement provides varying extents of valve actuation in dependence upon cam rotatonal speeds.

A valve rocker assembly for an internal combustion engine comprises a rocker shaft (1) mounted in pedestals (2) on a cylinder head (3). Rocker arms (5, 6) are held in engagement with opposite sides of the bearing by means of a spring clip (10) which is removable from the rocker shaft without complete disassembly, thereby facilitating manufacture and repair, and reducing frictional resistance to the movement of the rocker arms.
