Embodiments of the present invention disclose an active optical antenna, a microwave transmitting system and an information sending method. The active optical antenna includes: a substrate; a ground disposed at the bottom of the substrate; a power supply grid and several antenna units that are disposed at the top of the substrate, and photodetector tubes that are disposed in the substrate and located between the antenna units and the ground, where the power supply grid supplies power to the photodetector tubes, the number of the photodetector tubes is equal to the number of the antenna units, and output ends of the photodetector tubes are coupled with the antenna units to output radio frequency signals; and optical waveguides which are disposed in the substrate and connected to the photodetector tubes. By applying the embodiments of the present invention, the costs of the antenna are reduced and an integration level of the antenna is increased. Furthermore, the signals which are to be transmitted and received by the antenna are optical signals. Therefore, complex optical splitting may be completed by using a planar waveguide technology, so that optical power distribution is completed in an optical domain, which avoids matching and attenuation in an electrical signal distribution network.

The anode is connected to a power supply via a decoupling capacitor (28). The optocoupler circuit is arranged so that the switch turns on the photo LED when in the open position. When closed, the switch (22) directs current flow through a series resistor (32) to ground and shunts current flow away from the photo LED to turn off the photo LED. A second capacitor (38) is connected to the cathode of the photo LED. The second capacitor is wired in series with a second switch (40) and a current limiting resistor (42) connected to ground. The first switch (22) and second switch (04) operate in complementary states to prevent the cathode connected capacitor (38) from discharging. The disclosed optocoupler circuit (10) provides the ability to function at increased levels of common mode voltage transients.

In an alternate embodiment of the invention, the invention enables auto detection of the cable. The base device is used to power the cable electronics. In another embodiment of the present invention, the interface cable is also supported by graphical and text message display that assists users in connecting the cable to both the medical device and a base device.
