摘要： Provided is a toner set comprised of a plurality of toners including a number of toners, at least one toner but less than all toners of the toner set comprising binder, colorant and fluorescence agent and remaining additional toners comprised of binder, colorant and free of fluorescence agent, wherein at least a first toner grouping and a second toner grouping of the toner set form a combination, the first and second groupings of the combination exhibiting a substantially same color under ambient light conditions upon image formation, the first toner grouping and the second toner grouping of the combination containing a different amount of the fluorescence agent, wherein upon exposure to activating energy, the fluorescence agent fluoresces to cause a visible change in the color of a pattern formed in an image by the first toner grouping as compared to the second toner grouping.

摘要： Methods form a multi-color electrophoretic display. The methods include providing microcapsules, wherein the microcapsules have an electrostatic charge, and wherein the microcapsules comprise, a shell that is transparent and a display medium within the shell, wherein the display medium is comprised of either (a) at least two sets of differently colored particles in a substantially clear fluid, or (b) at least one set of colored particles in a differently colored fluid. The methods include transferring the microcapsules to a substrate, wherein the electrostatic charge of the microcapsules attracts the microcapsules to the substrate, wherein a display layer of microcapsules is formed on the substrate. The methods include positioning a conductive substrate adjacent to the substrate, wherein the substrate is located between the display layer and the conductive substrate. In use, the conductive substrate applies an electric field to the display layer, and wherein the sets of particles within each microcapsule in the display layer are movable within the microcapsule by the electric field.

摘要： A parallel wire apparatus allows direct lateral viewing of particles of electrophoretic ink that are undergoing electrophoretic migration. Electrophoretic ink movement is commonly monitored by placing the ink through the top electrode, but as the toner particles migrate back and forth between the two electrodes, the viewer can not see what lies beneath the top electrode. This may hide commonly known failure modes, such as particle agglomeration, swishing of particles due to hydrodynamic effects. The parallel wire apparatus (500) includes two narrow gauge wires glued to a glass substrate and held apart in parallel at a fixed distance to help maintain a uniform electric field across the gap. A plastic block (600) with pegs that are situated at a fixed distance and threaded screws is used to make the lateral wire apparatus with precise wire spacing that may be reproducibly made in less than five minutes using inexpensive and readily available materials.
