A colored pigment master batch for use in blow molding containing a pigment and a carrier resin, characterized in that the carrier resin is a crystalline or amorphous thermoplastic elastomer which has a Vicat softening temperature higher than the melting point of a base resin for molding, a melting point of crystals or a temperature of start of flowing out being measured by a flow tester which is 20°C or more higher than the melting point of the base resin for molding, and an MFR which is 5 times that of the base resin for molding or greater; and a blow molding method, characterized in that a blow-molded article having an appearance like the grain of wood is produced using the colored pigment master batch. The colored pigment master batch is advantageous in that it provides a blow molding material the flash from which can be easily recycled as a part of a raw material.

Provided are a blow molding apparatus characterized by comprising:
(a) m (m≧1) sets of extruders for melting and extruding m kinds of resins; (b) a multilayer die head which has circular passages for resins to form a multilayer parison of n layers, wherein n has a relation of n≦m and in which two kinds of different molten resins are introduced into at least one of the above circular passages for resins; and (c) a mold equipment which is a pair of left and right molds forming a cavity for blow molding, wherein plural heat transfer medium passages branching away from an inlet side collecting pipe are disposed close to a cavity surface in the mold in a parallel path, and each passage is connected to an outlet side collecting pipe; high temperature heat transfer medium-feeding equipment for feeding a high temperature heat transfer medium and low temperature heat transfer medium-feeding equipment for feeding a low temperature heat transfer medium are connected to the inlet side collecting pipe and the outlet side collecting pipe through pipelines via switching valves to constitute independent heat transfer medium-circulating lines respectively; and the high temperature heat transfer medium and the low temperature heat transfer medium are alternately switched by switching operation of the switching valves, whereby the high temperature heat transfer medium or the low temperature heat transfer medium is allowed to pass from the inlet side collecting pipe toward the outlet side collecting pipe through the heat transfer medium passages in the mold to switch a cavity surface temperature over to a high temperature or a low temperature in a short time, a blow molding method and a blow-molded article molded using the above apparatus and method.

An apparatus for making the rubber tape (9) comprises an extruder (13) and a pair of calendar rollers (14), wherein the extruder (13) includes a die (17) having an extruding hole (16) from which compounded rubber is extruded into a rectangular cross sectional shape, the extruding hole (16) has an opening width WA1 of from 0.6 to 0.9 times the whole width W0 of the rubber tape (9) and an opening thickness HA1 of from 1.5 to 7.5 times the average thickness of the central part (9A) of the rubber tape, and the calendar rollers (14) are provided therebetween with a gap between which the extruded rubber passes through, the gap having a shape which is similar to but smaller than a cross sectional shape of the rubber tape.

A flat blow molding apparatus adapted to extrude a flat hollow parison from a clearance between a flat core and a flat die surrounding the core, characterized in that both end portions of the die are provided slidably in the widthwise direction with respect to an intermediate portion thereof with the core formed interchangeably in accordance with the widthwise expansion and contraction of the die. According to this structure, the varying of the width of a flat hollow parison extruded from the clearance between the core and die is effected by slidingly moving both end portions of the die in the widthwise direction and interchanging the core suitably in accordance with the widthwise expansion and contraction of the die. If the flat core consists of a flat interchangeable portion and a curved non-interchangeable portion so that the interchangeable portion only is replaced by another, a plurality of flat interchangeable portions only, which do not cost much, of different lengths need be provided, and this enables the manufactering cost to decrease. Therefore, the varying of the width of a flat hollow parison extruded from the clearance between the flat core and flat die is effected.

The method of compression molding an article such as a closure wherein a thermoplastic resin is mixed with additives including a metallic pigment additive, extruded through a nozzle, cut by a blade into individual pellets, and each pellet is deposited into the cavity of a mold which is then closed to compression mold the pellet into an article, including the step of adding a blowing agent to the resin prior to extrusion in a quantity sufficient to randomize the metallic particles in the metallic pigment additive such that gaseous bubbles are provided in the extruded melt and that the gaseous bubbles are substantially expelled during the compression molding resulting in an article that is substantially free of blemishes which normally occur. Preferably, the method includes positioning a mixer plate in the path of the resin immediately prior to the nozzle.

In the manufacture of an unvulcanised rubber structure, rubber compositions having different vulcanization rates are distributed in relation to each other in forming said structure to correspond to a distribution of vulcanization temperature rises in the respective rubber compositions to the extent that, on vulcanisation, final degrees of vulcanisation are obtained in the respective rubber compositions which are substantially uniform throughout the then vulcanised structure. Constituent rubbers having different vulcanization rates obtained by varying the mixing ratio of carbon-containing masterbatch compound and vulcanizing agent or by varying the mixing ratio of rubber having a fast vulcanization rate and rubber having a slow vulcanization rate, are successively mixed and extruded by means of a mixer-extruder and they are respectively worked into sheets by means of calender rolls. The sheets are successively adhered to a shaping roll respectively at predetermined positions. The above-mentioned mixing ratio, sheet thickness and adherence position are centrally controlled by a control unit.
