The method and system includes providing the digital camera with a first media type module (350) that defines a first media type originally supported by the digital camera. The digital camera is also provided with an application program interface that enables the software to access the first media type module. The method and system further includes loading a second media type module (354) into the digital camera that defines a second media type, wherein the second media type module is accessible by the software through the application program interface. After capturing an object with the digital camera, the second media type is associated with the object.

The image capture unit (114) includes a plurality of images files for providing a plurality of images. In the first aspect, the method and system (110) comprises selecting an image based upon a scrolling method and providing a predetermined number of speculation buffer. The method and system (110) includes organizing the predetermined number of speculation buffers based upon the selected images so as to assign each of the predetermined number of speculation buffers to store one of the plurality of images in response to the scrolling method. In second aspect, the image capture unit (114) operates in a plurality of modes. The image capture unit (114) also includes a plurality of input buffers which are utilizing one of the plurality of modes and are unutilized on at least one of the other of the plurality of modes. The method and system (110) in accordance with this aspect comprises reallocating the input buffers as speculation buffers and providing image data from the image files to the speculation buffers when the image capture unit (110) is in the at least one of the plurality of modes.

The method and system include providing the server with a set of trigger handlers that are each configured to perform a particular action on a digital file. The user may log into the server and specify attribute criteria for each of the trigger handlers. Digital files uploaded by the user are received by the server, wherein each file has a plurality of attributes associated therewith. The attributes of each file are then compared with the attribute criteria entered by the user for each of the trigger handlers. And upon a match, the corresponding trigger handler is invoked, such that actions are automatically performed on the digital files.

The method and system include establishing a connection to a website server, which is responsible for establishing and maintaining website accounts, and sending information uniquely identifying the electronic device to the website server. The server then sends user account information to the device, including an account ID and password, created based on the electronic device information. The user account information is then stored on electronic device for use the next time the electronic device accesses the website, whereby the user does not have to enter account information in order to establish the ISP connection or the website account before accessing the public network.
