A thermoplastic resin composition which comprises 100 parts by weight of a resin ingredient comprising 40 to 99 wt.% polyarylene sulfide (A) and 1 to 60 wt.% poly(amide-imide) (B) and 0.01 to 10 parts by weight of a silane compound containing at least one functional group selected from the group consisting of amino, ureido, epoxy, isocyanate, and mercapto groups. It is improved in compatibility, moldability, melt flowability, and mechanical properties.

A thermoplastic resin composition which is formed by mixing (A) 30 to 84.9 wt.% crystalline thermoplastic resin, (B) 15 to 65 wt.% graft copolymer obtained by graft-polymerizing an ethylenic monomer with a rubbery backbone polymer having alkylene oxide groups, and (C) 0.1 to 5 wt.% anionic surfactant. The composition has such a degree of antistatic properties that it is suitable for use as an ESD (electrostatic dissipating) material. The composition is not black and can be colored in desired tints.

reacting 1-[(4-chlorophenyl)methyl]-3-methyl-2-oxocyclopentanecarboxylic acid methyl ester or 1-[(4-chlorophenyl)methyl]-3-methyl-2-oxocyclopentanecarboxylic acid ethyl ester with sodium hydride and methyl halide; and hydrolyzing the obtained 1-[(4-chlorophenyl)methyl]-3,3-dimethyl-2-oxocyclopentanecarboxylic acid methyl ester or 1-[(4-chlorophenyl)methyl]-3,3-dimethyl-2-oxocyclopentanecarboxylic acid ethyl ester.
Such a process of the present invention can produce 5-[(4-chlorophenyl)methyl]-2,2-dimethylcyclopentanone as an important intermediate of an agricultural or horticultural fungicide, e.g., Metconazole with a high quality at a high yield.
