The invention relates to a closing device for an injection moulding machine for synthetic materials. Said device comprises a fixed tool clamping plate (11) which is connected to a moveable tool clamping plate (12) by means of an articulated lever mechanism (13). A hollow shaft drive (7) co-operating with a spindle (21) is provided in order to actuate the articulated lever mechanism, said hollow shaft drive (7) being connected to the articulated lever mechanism (13). According to the invention, the spindle (21) is arranged in a rotationally fixed manner, the end of the spindle (21) facing the moveable tool clamping plate (12) is engaged with the rotor (6) of the hollow shaft drive (7), and the stator (4) of the hollow shaft drive is connected to the articulated lever mechanism (13). Preferably, a spindle nut is fixed in the rotor (6), said nut being engaged with the spindle, preferably in the form of a recirculating ball screw.
