A process sequence, cell structure, and cell layout for an eight square folded bit line dynamic random access memory (DRAM) cell allows a transfer device channel length of two lithographic features. The process sequence may allow elimination of deep trench collar or cap deposition, or reduction of word line to word line capacitance. The cell prepared by the method allows a two lithographic feature transfer device channel length in an eight square folded bit line DRAM cell. The method uses conventional processing techniques with no spacer defined features and uses conventional structures. The cell requires only one additional mask (GPC) and minimal additional processing. The process sequence starts with deep trench (DT) processing, followed by deposition of SiO 2 , planarization and pad strip. Then gate SiO 2 , polysilicon, and pad are deposited. The structure is etched using a shallow trench isolation mask and filled with SiO 2 . After planarization, a thin insulator is deposited and the structure is etched again with a Gate Poly Contact mask. A gate conductor is then deposited. After a final etch, wiring is added.

A dual element (80a,80b) magnetoresistive (MR) head (80) is positioned relative to a storage medium (24) in a storage device (20). The MR head (80) has first and second MR elements (80a,80b). The storage medium (24) is mounted in the storage device (20) to allow relative movement between the MR head (80) and the storage medium (24). The storage medium (24) includes servo information (106,108) provided to induce first and second thermal responses (211,213) in the MR elements (80a,80b). A controller (250) is coupled to the MR head (80) and controls the relative movement between the MR head (80) and the storage medium (24) using the first and second thermal responses (211,213) in the MR elements (80a,80b).
摘要:
A method and apparatus for the automatic access control to multimedia presentations at the receiver in accordance with a viewer selected access mode and access classification data encoded into the multimedia presentation. Screening classification codes (SCCs) are embedded in the Audio Visual Material (AVM) delivered to a subscribers home station. The screening classification codes identify the type of content that follows in the AVM stream. For instance, violent content (video and/or audio) provided to a home station may contain a SCC that indicates violent scenes or violent action is forth coming in the AVM stream. The home station takes the SCC that are encoded and/or embedded in the AVM stream and applies a subscriber selected screening criteria. The screening criteria or suppression criteria are AVM manipulation commands. These AVM manipulation commands can blank the audio and/or video, cause the display of the last acceptable frame, perform obscuration transforms on the AVM stream or otherwise manipulate the audio and/or video portions of the AVM stream. The subscriber associates an AVM manipulation command with each of the available SCCs. The home station applies the subscriber desired manipulation commands to the AVM stream. Information on the subscriber selections are provided to an upstream node for subscriber behavior collection analysis.

A method and apparatus for remote control of electronic devices (10,14) includes one or more processing units (20), a memory system (20), one or more I/O controllers (20), controlling various input/output devices such as a keyboard (26), a mouse (28), a display device (22), communications adapters and the like, a bus (20) which connects the processing units, the memory system, and the I/O controllers, one or more transducers (202,204,212,214) adapted to convert electronic signals to wireless communications signals the processor units (20) being arranged to execute one or more application programs for controlling generation and transmission of wireless communications signals for remote control of one or more electronic devices (10,14). A typical application is the control of transmission of infrared signals to remotely control consumer electronics equipment (10,14).
摘要:
An apparatus and method for reading an information signal from a magnetic storage medium (24) using a magnetoresistive (MR) element (72), modifying the signal such that a thermal component of the signal representing a thermal response of the MR element (72) is degraded, and altering the modified signal to produce a restored thermal signal substantially representative of the thermal component of the signal read from the storage medium (24). The information signal induced in the MR element (72) is communicated from the MR element (72) to an arm electronics (AE) module (74) having a highpass filtering behavior. The AE module passes content of the information signal other than the thermal component content, thereby degrading the thermal component of the information signal. An inverse filter (76,88), implemented using an infinite impulse response (IIR) filter, receives the highpass filtered signal from the AE module (74) and produces a restored thermal signal substantially representative of the thermal component of the information signal. The inverse filter (76,88) has a response substantially inverse to that of the effective highpass filter of the AE module (74). A signal summing device (90) is coupled to the AE module (74) and the inverse filter (88) for receiving a restored thermal signal from the inverse filter (88) and a composite signal, including thermal and magnetic components, from the AE module (74) and substantially eliminates the thermal component of the composite signal, which otherwise distorts or modulates the composite signal.

A system and method are provided for producing verified signatures on documents such as checks and affidavits. Initially, a customer who is to obtain a verified signature, at some point in time, registers with a signatory authority, and a secret key, having public and private components, is established uniquely for that customer. When a document requires a verified signature, the customer presents the document and proof of his/her identity, such as a preprogrammed computer-interfacable card, to a signature system. Typically, such a system is to be available at an institution, such as an office, bank, or post office, where such services will routinely be used. The system accesses the archive of the private portion of the customer's key, and generates an encoded signature based, in part, on the content of the document. Accordingly, when a recipient of the document later wishes to verify the signature, the recipient uses the customer's public key to decode the signature. It is then straightforward to verify the signature against the content of the document.
