    摘要: A multi-kernel neural network computing architecture configured to learn correlations among feature values (34, 38) as the network monitors and imputes measured input values (30) and also predicts future output values (46). This computing architecture, referred to as a concurrent-learning information processor (CIP 10), includes a multi-kernel neural network array (14) with the capability to learn and predict in real time. The CIP (10) also includes a manager (16) and an input-output transducer (12) that may be used for input-output refinement. These components allow the computing capacity of the multi-kernel array (14) to be reassigned in response to measured performance or other factors. The output feature values (46) computed by the multi-kernel array (14) and processed by an output processor (44) of the transducer (12) are supplied to a response unit (18) that may be configured to perform a variety of monitoring, forecasting, and control operations in response to the computed output values. Important characteristics of the CIP (10), such as feature function specifications (35 and 49), connection specifications (42), learning weight schedules (55), and the like may be set by a technician through a graphical user interface (20). Refinement processes also allow the CIP (10) to be reconfigured in accordance with user commands for application to different physical applications.

Envelope density is determined from the difference in the advance of the plunger when the cylinder is partially filled with a dry flowing medium and when a sample material such as a rigid object is added into the medium. Bulk density is determined from the difference in the advance of the plunger when the cylidner is empty and when the cylinder contains a sample material such as a powder.

    摘要: Chuck for use with manual or powered driver having rotatable shaft, the chuck including a body member and jaws slidably positioned in angled passageways formed in the body. The chuck further includes a nut rotatably mounted relative to the body member and in engagement with threads on the jaws. A generally cylindrical front sleeve member is disposed in driving engagement with the nut and overlying the nose section of the body so that when the front sleeve member is rotated with respect to the body, the jaws will be moved thereby to grip the shaft of a tool. A spring member is biased to engage the sleeve member and is disposed selectively rotatably with respect to the nut. When the nut is tightened, the spring member becomes locked to the body member and restrains the nut from loosening during vibration of the chuck in use for its intended purpose.

    摘要: An improvement in a capacitive discharge ignition system utilizing a permanent magnet assembly (54) revolving in synchronism with the operation of an internal combustion engine to generate spark energy. The relatively high voltage necessary to initiate an ignition spark in a step-up transformer secondary coil (98) is produced by application of a capacitive discharge current to the primary coil (96) of the step-up transformer (100). The ignition spark is initiated in timed relationship when a voltage induced on the secondary coil (98) of the step-up transformer by the passing of the rotating magnet assembly exceeds a characteristic spark-sustaining potential. Longer spark duration at lower engine speeds is provided by configuring the discharge circuit such that only a negligible current flows in the charge coil (104) during the time that the sustaining potential is being utilized to maintain the spark (102). In some exemplary embodiments, the discharge voltage may be triggered by a voltage divider network electrically connected across the primary coil.

    摘要: A portable non-contact label imager captures an image of two-dimensional information indicia (20) on a label (25). The captured image data is decoded by a decoder. The label imager forms a part of a data terminal (10), which includes a keypad (35), display (45) and signature capture pad (40). Upon receipt of a start signal from the data terminal's circuitry, the label imager automatically carries out the steps required to capture the label information indicia. The label imager provides aiming indicia to allow the user to properly aim the camera. A position sensing device determines when the target label is within the camera's depth of field. At that time, the label imager determines the shutter speed required for a correct exposure by measuring the light reflected from the label. The label imager then captures the label image, which is decoded by the decoder. Corresponding output data is then provided to the data terminal (10).
