摘要： This invention describes a crystalline alumina loaded cavity resonator which has low loss and high frequency stability such that its frequency is well-defined and only weakly perturbed by temperature, pressure and mechanical changes in its environment. Basically the resonator is a single crystal of sapphire (1) having protusions (2) and (2') fitting closely into recesses in the base (3) and lid (3') of a niobium housing. The lid (3') is clamped by groove (4) and having a indium seal to seal the lid (3') to the side walls (5) at groove (6) in lid (3'). A microwave probe (7) is used to couple microwave power into the cavity through hole (8).

摘要： A data selection and decoding system useful for selective analysis and speedy assimilation of a large volume of data, in which the data, is set out as an array of code characters. A decoder mask is used to read data from the array, the mask having a viewing slot for viewing a chosen line and bearing, alongside the slot, decoding keys. The mask is made up of sheet portions, each with a viewing slot and possibly bearing decoding keys on each side. By folding the mask so as to reveal the sheet portion or the side of a sheet portion appropriate to a chosen row or column, characters, visible through the slot, can be quickly decoded.

摘要： In a bar code reading apparatus which recognizes information of a bar code by automatic scanning, a plurality of manually operable keys (40) having numerical keys (40a) are provided to manually input numerical data written beside a bar code. When a user of bar code reading apparatus ascertains that satisfactory reading of a bar code is not performed due to stained portion or partial missing of the bar code or the like, he or she may manipulate the numerical keys (40a) to input the data of the bar code manually. The invention provides a circuit arrangement (33, 50) so that trains of clock pulses (Cs, Ct) used for driving an electronic scanning type image sensor (21) can also be used for manually inputting signals. Other manually operable keys (Sc, Sx) for clearing erroneously input data and for an instruction of multiplication may also be provided.

摘要： A control system for operating a double-acting hydraulic ram or motor including a proportional meter-out type directional control valve which meters the flow of fluid out of the load and, in association therewith, a combined flow and pressure control valve in the return line from the load. The flow and pressure control valve is responsive to the pressure drop across the meter-out orifice of the directional control valve such that return line flow is restricted at high pressure drops and the supply pressure to the load is increased at low pressure drops whereby a substantially constant pressure drop across the meter-out orifice is maintained irrespective of the size or direction of the load.

摘要： A system is disclosed for issuing airline tickets without the intervention of any-ticket agent. The system includes a plurality of electro-mechanical ticket terminals (10) in com- municationwith a central computer. Each of the termlnats has a card reader (35), a modem (31 and 31 A), destination select buttons (37), and a printer (34). In operation, the card reader reads data from a magnetic strip (15) on a ticket purchasers credit card (12) and the modem transmits signals identifying this credit card to the central computer. Subsequently, the modem receives signals from the central computer indicating good or bad credit. The push buttons are provided on the terminal to enable the purchaser to manually select his destination; and the printer prints a ticket to the selected destination conditional on the credit check signals received from the modem.

摘要： A method and system for the detection of plate clashing in disc refiners and provided herein. The signal from either an acoustic or vibration monitor (12) is processed through a filter (14) which isolates those frequencies at which a significant increase in signal level is known to occur during a clash or are generated in association with imminent or actual plate clashing. The signal level of the filtered data is compared with a threshold level (19) at which protective action must be taken. Protection can be automatically initiated by the plate clash detection system; alternatively, it can be done manually by an operator, using the detection system as a warning device.
