The present invention is a formulated polyether or polyester polyol blend that is useful for preparing polyurethane and polyisocyanurate foams. The formulated polyol blend of the present invention includes: a polyol that is derived from butylene oxide; and a hydrocarbon blowing agent such as pentane or cyclopentane, for example. Use of butylene oxide polyols of the present invention allow inclusion of a sufficient amount of a hydrocarbon blowing agent to produce foams having low density, without incorporating a higher concentration of water into a polyurethane foam formulation.

The invention relates to a poly(arylamine) composition of one or more compounds of from 5 to 1000 of monomer. The monomers useful in the preparation of poly(arylamines) comprise two amino moieties wherein each amino moiety is bound to three aryl moieties wherein two halo moieties are optionally bound to the monomer. The invention further relates to films prepared from such poly(arylamines), as well as electrophotographic devices and electroluminescent devices containing such films, such as polymeric light-emitting diodes. The invention also relates to processes for the preparation of poly(arylamines). The polymers of the invention form films which are relatively high molecular weight charge transport compounds which are capable of forming films. The films can be prepared using relatively small amounts of polymer while still maintaining the desirable properties of transporting positive charges. The processes disclosed herein provide efficient means of preparing the disclosed compounds.

This invention includes catalysts comprising rhenium (atomic number 75), nickel, cobalt, boron and copper and/or ruthenium impregnated on a support material and a process for preparing said catalyst, said process comprising (i) impregnating a mixture of metals comprising rhenium, cobalt, copper and/or ruthenium, boron and nickel on a support material selected from the group consisting of alpha-alumina, silica, silica-alumina, kieselguhrs or diatomaceous earths, and silica-titanias; and (ii) activating said catalyst by heating the catalyst in the presence of hydrogen at an effective temperature preferably in the range of about 150 °C to about 500 °C for a sufficient period preferably of from about 30 minutes to about 6 hours. A further feature of the present invention is a method for producing amine products by the catalytic amination of polyether derivatives including epoxides, monols, diols, polyethers, polyols, alcoholamines, ketones, imino compounds iminoalcohols, ether alcohols, and mixtures thereof, said process comprising contacting said lower polyether derivatives with ammonia and/or reactant amine at an effective temperature preferably from 150 °C to about 500 °C and at an effective pressure preferably from 1000-5000 psig (6895-34,474 kPag) and in the presence of hydrogen and the nickel-rhenium-cobalt-boron-copper and /or ruthenium catalyst as described hereinabove.
