    摘要: The present invention relates to a vacuum pumping system (100) comprising a vacuum pump (10) and provided with a soundproofing arrangement (40, 50, 60). The vacuum pumping system of the invention comprises a vacuum pump (10) accommodated in a pump housing and a soundproofing hood (50) surrounding said pump housing and provided with a hood air inlet (52) and a hood air outlet (54). In order to improve dampening of the noise generated by the vacuum pumping system, one or more additional soundproofing shielding element(s) is/are provided between the hood air inlet and the pump housing air inlet and/or between the hood air outlet and the pump housing air outlet, respectively. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, said one or more additional soundproofing shielding element(s) is/are designed as a casing (40) surrounding said pump housing and provided with a casing air inlet (46) and a casing air outlet (48).

    摘要: An apparatus and method for generating a mid-infrared region image of a specimen (16) are disclosed. The apparatus includes a mid-infrared region laser (11) that generates a first light beam (18), and a stage (57) adapted to carry a specimen to be scanned. An optical assembly (31) focuses the first light beam to a point on the specimen. A first light detector (13) measures a first intensity of light leaving the point on the specimen. A stage actuator assembly causes the specimen to move relative to the point in two dimensions. A controller (39) forms a mid-infrared region image from the first intensity. The image can be based on reflected or transmitted light. The maximum size of the imaged area is determined by a scanning assembly that moves in a first direction relative to the stage, the stage moving in a direction orthogonal to the first direction.
