摘要: A novel structure for use in the microwave cooking of foodstuffs for consumption is described. The structure includes a layer (22) of flexible electroconductive material normally opaque to microwave radiation and having a plurality of elongate apertures (24) therethrough dimensioned to permit microwave energy to pass through to the interior of the foodstuff and to produce thermal energy at the surface of the foodstuff. Both a microwave shielding effect and a combined microwave energy heating and thermal energy heating effect are obtained, enabling close control of the manner and extent of microwave cooking of the foodstuff to be obtained. The layer (22) of flexible electroconductive material is supported by and adhered to a substrate layer (18) of microwave energy transparent material in a multiple layer article of manufacture adapted to be formed into a packaging structure in which a foodstuff may be heated by microwave energy to an edible condition.

摘要: A laminate structure for microwave heating comprises a thin metal layer directly supported on a dielectric heat-stable substrate layer and covered at least partially by a lacquer layer. The thin metal layer produces a greater heating effect than is produced by the same metal layer directly supported on a polymeric film layer. The laminate is useful in the microwave heating of a variety of food products.

摘要: Selective demetallization of an etchable metal layer supported on a polymeric material or other microwave transparent material, or a self-supporting etchable metal layer, particularly aluminium of thickness at least about 1 micron adhesively joined to a flexible polymeric material substrate, is described. A web of polymeric material bearing the etchable metal layer, or an unsupported etchable metal layer, has a pattern of etchant-resistant material first applied and then the web is immersed in and passed through a bath of aqueous etchant, particularly hot aqueous sodium hydroxide solution, for a time at least sufficient to completely remove the etchable metal from non-protected areas of the web. The demetallized web is washed and dried. Specific structure incorporating the selectively demetallized etchable metal layer also are described.

摘要: A susceptor bag (20) for microwave heating of food products, such as french fries, fish sticks, apple turnovers and burritos, is formed from a single flexible sheet comprising a layer (16, 28) of metal or other electroconductive material having microwave susceptor thickness, supported on a paper substrate material (12, 24). The flexible sheet is folded on itself to form a sleeve (20) which houses and engages the food product. The thin metal layer (16, 28) is provided only in the regions where the food is located. The metal layer (16, 28) usually is overlied by a polymeric film layer (14, 26) or a release coating. By providing the thin metal (16, 28) upon application of microwave energy, the interior of the food product (30) becomes heated to a desired edible temperature while the exterior becomes crispened by thermal energy generated by the thin metal layer.

摘要: On décrit une nouvelle structure destinée à la cuisson par micro-ondes des denrées alimentaires de consommation. La structure comprend une couche (22) d'un matérau électroconducteur souple qui est normalement opaque au rayonnement des micro-ondes et qui est traversé par une pluralité d'ouvertures allongées (24) dimensionnées pour permettre aux micro-ondes de pénétrer jusqu'à l'intérieur des aliments et de produire de l'énergie thermique à la surface de ceux-ci. On peut ainsi obtenir à la fois un effet de blindage anti-micro-ondes et un double effet de chauffage par micro-ondes et par énergie thermique, ce qui permet un réglage rapproché du type et de l'étendue de la cuisson par micro-ondes recherchée. La couche (22) de matériau électroconducteur souple est soutenue par un substrat (18), et collée à celui-ci, le substrat étant exécuté dans un matériau transparent aux micro-ondes. L'article fabriqué multi-couche ainsi formé est apte à servir de structure d'emballage dans laquelle des denrées alimentaires peuvent être chauffées par micro-ondes jusqu'à ce qu'elles soient prêtes à la consommation.
