An electro-mechanical drive apparatus uses a single variable speed motor (20), two one-way clutches (42, 66), and a hydraulic accumulator (48) to provide both hydraulic power for the linear motion axes and rotation of the plasticizing screw (14) in an injection molding machine. When engaged, the first one-way clutch (42) couples the drive motor (20) to the pump stack (26), while the second one-way clutch (66) couples the motor (20) to the feed screw (14). During rotation of the drive motor (20) in a forward direction, (a) the first one-way clutch (42) engages, rotating the shaft of the hydraulic pump stack (26) to power the machines hydraulic systems and charge the accumulator (48); and (b) the second one-way clutch slips. When the drive motor (20) is rotated in a reverse direction, (a) the second one-way clutch (66) engages, rotating the feed screw (14), and (b) the first one-way clutch (42) slips. Preferably, the drive apparatus is associated with a double shaft motor (20) mounted adjacent separate drive couplings for the feed screw (14) and hydraulic pump stack (26).

Additionally, a rotary motor (40) is also carried by the movable platen and has its axis coincident with the longitudinal axis of the movable platen for connection of an output shaft (99) of the motor with a drive mechanism carried by a mold, the drive mechanism suitable for rotating rotatable cores that form internal threads on the molded article. The linear and rotary ejection apparatus can be used individually, or they can be used in appropriate sequence in a core-type mold where separation of the cores does not simultaneously effect separation of the part from the mold.

A segmented presser assembly (100) for laying fibre tows (14) and producing composite plastic articles has a plurality of presser element disks (113, 114, 115). The disks, stacked side-by-side, are independently movable and biased against a work surface (104) such as a mandrel or mold. An elastic band (121) is provided on the rotary outer periphery of each disk. Each band is unconnected to elastic bands on adjacent disks. Some at least of the disks (114, 115) and their respective bands (121) are radially movable during the laydown and compaction of the fibre tows over the changing contour of the workpiece surface. The elastic band has a low friction face, such as, for example, a "Teflon" film, for engaging the fibre tows.

Ce contrôleur programmable est configuré de manière que certaines sorties "à balayage rapide" désignées par l'usager puissent fonctionner à des vitesses bien supérieures à celles des sorties "normales" non désignées, ce qui augmente considérablement l'efficacité en réduisant le temps de réaction pour les opérations commandées par les sorties à balayage rapide. Ce contrôleur programmable recourt à un processeur qui "balaie" son programme définissable par l'usager (y compris la valeur de toutes les entrées et sorties du système) avant même de tenter de changer la valeur de quelque sortie que ce soit. Les interfaces matérielles d'entrée/sortie sont placées sur des étagères d'entrée/sortie (60) dont chacune comporte un adaptateur de bus intelligent (70). Ce dernier est doté de son propre processeur qui communique périodiquement avec celui du contrôleur programmable. Le processeur de l'adaptateur de bus intelligent contrôle la sortie à balayage rapide placée sur la même étagère d'entrée/sortie à intervalles très rapprochés et il offre un temps de réaction qui est plus rapide d'un ordre de grandeur que celui des sorties normales du contrôleur programmable.

L'invention se rapporte à une procédé de fabrication de meules agglomérées vitreuses présentant une porosité comprise entre 20 et 55 % en volume, ce procédé permettant de réduire ou de prévenir un agent de régulation de retrait inorganique, solide, particulaire, non métallique, non abrasif et non recouvert, avec le grain abrasif, le précurseur de matrice vitreuse et d'autres éléments utilisés pour produire la meule. Le nitrure de bore hexagonal non abrasif est un agent de régulation de retrait préféré, et peut-être utilisé en quantités comprises entre 1 et 10 % en volume basées sur le volume de la meule. L'on obtient ainsi, dans les meules fabriquées selon cette méthode, un retrait réduit par rapport aux meules analogues fabriquées sans utiliser d'agent de régulation de retrait.
